Carry On Girls
''Carry On Girls'' is a 1973 British comedy film, the 25th release in the series of 31 ''Carry On'' films (1958–1992). The film features regulars Sid James, Barbara Windsor, Joan Sims, Kenneth Connor, Bernard Bresslaw and Peter Butterworth. This ''Carry On'' featured neither Kenneth Williams nor Charles Hawtrey; Williams was unavailable because of stage commitments and Hawtrey had been dropped from the series due to his alcoholism and unreliability. Patsy Rowlands makes her seventh appearance in the series. Robin Askwith makes his only appearance in the series. Jack Douglas makes his third appearance, this time upgraded to a main role. Gerald Thomas
Gerald Thomas (10 December 1920 – 9 November 1993) was an English film director best known for the long-running ''Carry On (franchise), ''Carry On'' series'' of British film comedies. Early life Born in Kingston upon Hull, Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire, England, Thomas was educated in Bristol and London, and was training in medicine when World War II began. He served four years in the British Army during the war, and upon his return to civilian life thought it too late to continue his medical studies. Career Thomas began his film career at Denham Film Studios, Denham Studios, eventually becoming an assistant film editor beginning with Laurence Olivier's ''Hamlet (1948 film), Hamlet'' (1948). Alfred Roome
Alfred Wallace Roome (22 December 1908 – 19 November 1997) was an English film editor and occasional film director, director. Biography Born in London, in 1908, he first worked in the film industry as a film editor on the 1932 British comedy film ''Thark (film), Thark''. He went on to edit mostly comedies over the next forty years including many of the Aldwych Farces films, and Will Hay films such as ''Boys Will Be Boys (1935 film), Boys Will Be Boys''. He directed crime film ''My Brother's Keeper (film), My Brother's Keeper'' (1948) and comedy film ''It's Not Cricket (1949 film), It's Not Cricket'' (1949). Patricia Franklin (born 11 September 1942) is an English actress best known for her roles in five '' Carry On'' films. Early life Born in East Finchley, London, Franklin and her family frequently went to see shows at the nearby amateur theatre; after seeing that the theatre company, Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, offered drama classes, Franklin decided to join. After appearing in several productions, Franklin joined Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA). Career Upon leaving RADA, Franklin's first acting role was as a hostess in an episode of ''At Last The 1948 Show'' in 1968. This article chronicles the history of British film certificates. Overview The UK's film ratings are decided by the British Board of Film Classification and have been since 1912. Previously, there were no agreed rating standards, and local councils imposed their ownoften differingconditions or restrictions. ''Carry On Dick'' is a 1974 British comedy film, the 26th release in the series of 31 ''Carry On'' films (1958–1992). The story is based on the Dick Turpin legend and features Turpin (James) as an antihero, attempting to evade capture by the authorities. ''Carry On Dick'' was released in July 1974 and marked the end of an era for the series. It features the last appearances of Sid James (after nineteen appearances in the series prior to his death two years later from a heart attack), Hattie Jacques (fourteen appearances) and Barbara Windsor (nine appearances), although all three would appear in the '' Carry On Laughing'' TV series and Windsor would co-present a film compilation, '' That's Carry On!''. Kenneth Williams
Kenneth Charles Williams (22 February 1926 – 15 April 1988) was a British actor and comedian. He was best known for his comedy roles and in later life as a raconteur and diarist. He was one of the main ensemble in 26 of the 31 ''Carry On'' films, and appeared in many British television programmes and radio comedies, including series with Tony Hancock and Kenneth Horne, as well as being a frequent panellist on BBC Radio 4's comedy panel show ''Just a Minute'' from its second series in 1968 until his death 20 years later.
