Caroline Martin
Caroline Martin is a British radio presenter. She presents the weekend breakfast show on BBC Local Radio in the West of England, and a late-night show on some weekdays for the Wolverhampton radio station WCR FM. Early life Martin was born in Cambridge, England. She grew up near Cambridge. She was named after Radio Caroline, a radio station at which she would later work. Career Martin began to broadcast on Radio Caroline, a pirate radio station off the coast of the East of England, in May 1986. Martin was 17 or 18 when she was on the Ross Revenge ship of Radio Caroline when its crew were brought to safety during a storm. She presented on Contact 94, a radio station which broadcast to the Channel and Islands and part of France in the late 1980s and early 1990s. As of 1996, she was co-presenting a show on Invicta Supergold in Kent with Dave Asher. BBC Local Radio (also referred to as Local BBC Radio) is the BBC's local and regional radio division for England and the Channel Islands, consisting of 39 stations. As of December 2024, the network broadcasts to a combined audience of 7.1 million, with a listening share of 4.6%, according to RAJAR. History The popularity of pirate radio was to challenge a then very "stiff" and blinkered management at the BBC. The most prominent concession by the BBC was the creation of BBC Radio 1 to satisfy the ever-demanding new youth culture with their thirst for new, popular music. The other, however, was that these pirate radio stations were, in some cases, local. As a result, BBC Local Radio began as an experiment. BBC Radio WM is the BBC's local radio station serving the West Midlands. It broadcasts on FM, DAB, digital TV and via BBC Sounds from studios at The Mailbox in Birmingham. According to RAJAR, the station has a weekly audience of 193,000 listeners and a 2.2% share as of December 2023. History The station launched as BBC Radio Birmingham on 9 November 1970 and on 23 November 1981, the station changed its name to BBC WM to reflect that the station broadcasts to a wider area than just Birmingham. Elliott Webb
Elliott Webb (born 15 April 1971 in Worcester) is an English radio presenter. Early career Webb started his career in 1989 at Radio Wyvern in Worcester where he presented the evening show. From there he briefly presented the late night show at Severn Sound in Gloucester and then moved to MFM 103.4 to present evenings again. In 1991 he moved to Bradford to work at the newly re-launched Pulse of West Yorkshire. He hosted various shows until he took over presenting duties for Breakfast with co-host Debbie Lindley until his departure in 1996. More early starts followed with his move to Galaxy 101 in Bristol which had recently been acquired by Chrysalis Radio.
