Carlo Ponti Jr. (born 29 December 1968) is an Italian orchestral Conducting, conductor working in the United States. He is the son of late film producer Carlo Ponti, Carlo Ponti Sr. and Italian actress Sophia Loren, and the older brother of film director Edoardo Ponti. Early life Born in Geneva, Switzerland, Ponti worked at the Conductor's Institute in Connecticut, under the direction of Harold Farberman from 1994–96, worked with Mehli Mehta, Zubin Mehta, and Andrey Boreyko in Los Angeles from 1997-99, and furthered his musical studies in Austria at the Vienna Musikhochschule from 1999 to 2001 under Leopold Hager and Erwin Acel. Career He has guest conducted internationally and was the recipient of various awards for fostering the growth of young musical talent through music education. The Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra (WSO) is a Canadian orchestra based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Founded in 1947, the orchestra plays most of its concerts at the Centennial Concert Hall. Including travelling performances, the WSO presents an average of 80 concerts per year, and also provides orchestral accompaniment to the Royal Winnipeg Ballet and the Manitoba Opera. Veryovka Ukrainian Folk Choir
The Veryovka Ukrainian Folk Choir (fully titled in ) is a professional Ukrainian ensemble founded in 1943. The choir was founded in 1943 in Kharkiv to promote and spread Ukrainian folk music and dance traditions. The initiator and the first leader of the choir was Hryhoriy Veryovka, researcher and choir conductor. The choir represented Ukrainian art in the cities of the USSR, Romania (1952, 1956), Poland (1953), Finland (1954), Belgium and Luxembourg (1958), Germany (1959), Yugoslavia (1962) and other countries. In honor of its founder, the choir was named after him in 1965. In the same year, the team was headed by Anatoly Avdievsky. In 1965 the choir was awarded the title "deserved", in 1974 the title "academic" was granted and in 1997 granted the status of "national". The Sphinx Organization is a non-profit organization dedicated to the development of young Black and Latino classical musicians. Based in Detroit, Michigan, it was founded by the American violinist Aaron Dworkin.
