Carcarañá is a city in the , located in the San Lorenzo Department, on the southern banks of the Carcarañá River, west of Rosario on National Route 9, and south of Santa Fe, Argentina, the provincial capital. As of the it has about 22,000 inhabitants. Carcarañá was founded in 1870 and attained the status of ''comuna'' (commune) on 10 December 1890. Carcarañá River
The Carcarañá River ( Spanish, Arroyo Saladillo or Río Saladillo) is a river in Argentina. It begins at the confluence of the Río Tercero and the Saladillo River (the lower course of the Río Cuarto) in the south-east of the province of Córdoba (near Cruz Alta, at ) and flows eastward into the province of Santa Fe, which it crosses. In Santa Fe the river first turns south, then east and finally north-east, passing by the city of Carcarañá. It receives the waters of the Cañada de Gómez (near the city of the same name, at ), develops cascades and becomes constrained within ravines up to high. Germán Darío Lux (born 7 June 1982) is a retired Argentine professional footballer who last played for River Plate as a goalkeeper. San Lorenzo Department
The San Lorenzo Department (in Spanish, ''Departamento San Lorenzo'') is an administrative subdivision ('' departamento'') of Santa Fe Province, Argentina. It is located in the south of the province. It limits with the populous Rosario Department and the Paraná River in the east; and from there (going clockwise) with the departments of Constitución (south), Caseros (east), Iriondo (east and north) and San Jerónimo (north).
