Captain Miller (film)
''Captain Miller'' is a 2024 Indian Tamil-language action adventure film directed by Arun Matheswaran and produced by Sathya Jyothi Films. The film is the first part of a planned trilogy, and stars Dhanush in the title role, with Shiva Rajkumar, Sundeep Kishan, Priyanka Mohan, Aditi Balan, Edward Sonnenblick and John Kokken in supporting roles. Set in the 1930s, during the British Raj, it follows a former British Army soldier trying to save his home village from destruction by the British Army. Arun wrote the script in 2018 and Sathya Jyothi Films was to produce it. However, nothing was finalised then until 2019 when it started to come into shape. It was tentatively titled ''D47'' (Dhanush's 47th film in a lead role). The film was announced in July 2022. Arun Matheswaran
Arun Matheswaran is an Indian film director and screenwriter who predominantly works in the Tamil film industry. Career Before his debut as a director, Arun worked as an assistant director to Thiagarajan Kumararaja, and was the dialogue writer of '' Irudhi Suttru'' (2016). Arun made his directorial debut in with '' Rocky'' (2021) which received widespread acclaim from critics. His second film, ''Saani Kaayidham'' (2022), a crime drama featuring Keerthy Suresh and Selvaraghavan, premiered on Amazon Prime Video. Arun's third directorial '' Captain Miller'' (2024), an action-adventure film set in the 1930s, has Dhanush playing the lead and is part of a multi-film franchise that includes a prequel and sequel. Edward Sonnenblick (born 27 June 1970) is an American actor known for his works in Indian cinema and television. He has starred in works such as ''Firangi'' (2017), ''Veere Di Wedding'' (2018), '' Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi'' (2019), '' Kesari'' (2019), and '' ''RRR'''' (2022). He appeared in television series such as Jhansi Ki Rani, and The Kapil Sharma Show.
