Camelot Theme Park
Camelot Theme Park was a resort and theme park located in Charnock Richard, Lancashire, England. The park's theme was the legend of Camelot, and the park decor incorporated pseudo-medieval elements. It was located on a site owned by The Story Group and was operated by Knights Leisure. The park featured many rides, taking a target audience of families and younger children; however, the park also boasted numerous thrill rides and roller coasters, including Whirlwind (a Maurer Söhne spinning coaster), Knightmare and Excalibur. On 4 November 2012, Knight’s Leisure announced that they would not be reopening for the season of 2013. Charnock Richard
Charnock Richard is a small village and civil parish in the borough of Chorley, Lancashire, in England. The population of the civil parish taken at the 2011 census was 1,748. History The village was named in the early 13th century by the local landowner who gave the township his first name of Richard, to distinguish it from neighbouring Heath Charnock. The village is situated on the A49 road, which leads from Preston to Wigan. The manor house Park Hall dates from the 10th century. It was the home of Henry de Lea, who was beheaded with Adam Banastre on Leyland Moor in 1315, after the abortive Banastre Rebellion. Local amenities Charnock Richard Pasture is just off Freemans Lane, and is a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Granada Studios Tour
Granada Studios Tour was an entertainment theme park at the Granada Studios complex in Castlefield, Manchester, England, which operated from 1988 to 1999. The park was in the heart of Manchester city centre adjacent to the Granada House building. The tour attracted over 5 million visitors, but visitor numbers were waning by the late 1990s, and Granada Television sought to prioritise other parts of its business such as the ONdigital service (which, under the name ''ITV Digital'', soon failed). As a result, the Granada Studios Tour closed to the public in 1999, and for good in 2001. Carlisle, Cumbria
Carlisle ( , ; from ) is a city in the Cumberland (unitary authority), Cumberland district of Cumbria, England. Carlisle's early history is marked by the establishment of a settlement called Luguvalium to serve castra, forts along Hadrian's Wall in Roman Britain. The M6 motorway is the longest motorway in the United Kingdom. It is located entirely within England, running for just over from the Midlands to the border with Scotland. Michael Winterbottom (born 29 March 1961) is an English film director. He began his career working in British television before moving into features. Soo is a British glove puppet and TV character from the show Sooty and first appeared in 1964 as the girlfriend of Sooty.'Sooty is not just black and white' Liverpool ''Echo'' 22 November 1966 p. 2 Soo is an intelligent, calm and collected female panda who acts as the Foil (literature), foil for both Sooty and Sweep (puppet), Sweep. In the second and Third 2001-2004 TV series she became stroppy and bossy. Sweep (puppet)
Sweep is a British puppet and television character popular in the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand and other countries. Sweep is a grey glove puppet dog with long black ears who joined ''The Sooty Show'' in 1957, as a friend to fellow puppet Sooty. He is a dim-witted dog with a penchant for bones and sausages. Sweep is notable for his method of communication which consists of a loud high-pitched squeak that gains its inflection from normal speech and its rhythm from the syllables in each word. The rest of the cast, namely Soo and the presenter, could understand Sweep perfectly, and would (albeit indirectly) translate for the viewer. The sound of Sweep's voice was achieved using "something similar to a saxophone reed". Versions of the puppet later sold as toys had an integral squeaker connected to an air bulb that was squeezed by hand.
