Calon FM
Calon FM was a community radio station serving Wrexham and surrounding areas. (''Calon'' means "heart".) The station was first launched as a RSL radio station, originally covering events at the 2005 ''Wrexham Science Festival'' on 87.7 FM. In 2006, the station was granted a 5-year community radio licence. The station officially launched on Saturday 1 March 2008 on 105 FM in Wrexham after a short period of test transmissions. Calon FM was originally based on the campus of Glyndŵr University on Mold Road, initially based above a recording studio before moving into the Centre for Creative Industries (CCI). In its second incarnation, the station was based at the Wrexham Enterprise Hub in the city centre with its transmitter atop Tŷ Pawb ("Everyone's House"). Wrexham ( ; ) is a city status in the United Kingdom, city in the North East Wales, north-east of Wales. In the United Kingdom, community radio refers to a system of licensing small, micro-local, non-profit radio stations, which started in 2002. Glyndŵr University
Wrexham University (; ) is a public university in the north-east of Wales, with campuses in Wrexham, Northop and St Asaph. It offers both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, as well as professional courses. The university had students in . The earliest predecessor of the university was the Wrexham School of Science and Art (WSSA), established in 1887, which after several mergers became the North East Wales Institute of Higher Education (NEWI) in 1975. Tŷ Pawb (; ) is an arts centre in Wrexham, Wales. It serves as a venue for arts centre, arts, cultural centre, cultural and community centre, community events, as well as being a Marketplace, market and art gallery.
