Cake Shop NYC
Cake Shop was a New York City music venue, bar, and cafe on the Lower East Side of Manhattan that opened in 2005. Located at 152 Ludlow Street between Stanton Street and Rivington Street, Cake Shop offered a full bar and records for sale. However, it was best known as a rock club, hosting new and upcoming bands, as well as established acts almost nightly in its basement. Considered a crucial stop on the national tour circuit, Cake Shop was regarded as one of the few venues left in Manhattan open to hosting "independent underground pop music" produced by bands considered too limited in appeal to perform elsewhere. Finally Punk
Finally Punk were an all-female punk quartet based in Austin, Texas formed in 2005. Its members are Erin Budd, Stephanie Chan, Veronica Ortuño, and Elizabeth Skadden. Their demo CD-R titled, ''Get Serious'', was released the same year which included various lo-fi one-minute long punk tracks recorded in true D.I.Y. tradition—on a 4-track in a concrete practice space. Notably, their Nirvana cover for ''Negative Creep'' and aesthetic of rotating instrument and vocal duties, quickly gained attention by Pitchfork Media and Karen O (Yeah Yeah Yeahs), among others. Stanton Street
Stanton Street is a west-to-east street in the New York City borough of Manhattan, in the neighborhood of the Lower East Side. The street begins at the Bowery in the west and runs east to a dead end past Pitt Street, adjacent to Hamilton Fish Park. A shorter section of Stanton Street also exists east of Columbia Street; it was isolated from the remainder of the street in 1959 with the construction of the Gompers Houses and the Masaryk Towers. Rivington Street is a street in the New York City borough of Manhattan, which runs across the Lower East Side neighborhood, between the Bowery and Pitt Street, with a break between Chrystie and Forsyth for Sara D. The Pains of Being Pure at Heart are an American indie pop band from New York City.
