Cabinet Of Tuvalu
The Cabinet of Tuvalu is the executive branch of the government of Tuvalu. It is drawn from, and responsible to, the legislative branch, the unicameral Parliament of Tuvalu. After every legislative election, members of parliament (MPs) elect one of their own as prime minister. The latter then appoints ministers from among the MPs to form a cabinet. (Officially, ministers are appointed by the Governor-General of Tuvalu, who represents the monarch, with the governor-general acting on the advice of the prime minister). Initially, the Constitution provided that the number of members of cabinet (excluding the prime minister) must not be more than one third of the number of members of parliament. This was amended by the ''Constitution of Tuvalu (Amendment) Act'' 2007, which provides that up to half of the members of parliament may be appointed to cabinet (in addition to the prime minister). Niutao
Niutao is a reef island in the northern part of Tuvalu. It is one of the nine districts (islands) of Tuvalu. It is also one of the three districts that consist of only one island — not counting the three islets inside the closed lagoon. Niutao has a population of 550 (2022 census). Geography There are two lakes (ponds or lagoons), which are brackish to saline. The larger has three islands and a dam. There are three wells in which fresher water sits in a lens above the salt water that leaches in through the coral. Older maps show the only village as Tuapa (with the neighbourhood of Angafoulua). Nanumaga
Nanumanga or Nanumaga is a reef island and a district of the Oceanian island nation of Tuvalu. It has a surface area of about 3 km2 with a population of 391 (2022 census). History On 9 May 1824 a French government expedition under Captain Louis Isidore Duperrey of the ship ''La Coquille'' sighted Nanumaga. The US Exploring Expedition visited in 1841. Sa'aga Talu Teafa is a Tuvaluan politician with his former occupation was being a civil servant. Teafa was previously Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Public Utilities. Vaitupu
Vaitupu is the largest atoll of the nation of Tuvalu. It is located at 7.48 degrees south and 178.83 degrees east. There are 1,077 people (2022 Census) living on with the main village being Asau. History Discovery and settlement The exact date of Vaitupu's first settlement is unknown. According to oral history, the founder of the Vaitupuan community was a Samoan by the name of Telematua, who arrived in the 16th or 17th century. Paulson Panapa
Paulson Panapa (born 1967) is a Tuvaluan politician and has been a civil servant and diplomat. From 6 June 2014, he represented Tuvalu as the High Commissioner to Fiji. He was subsequently appointed as the High Commissioner to New Zealand from February 2017. Panapa was Assistant Clerk of the Tuvalu parliament from 1991 to 1995 and Clerk from 1995 to 2004. In 2010 Panapa was the Secretary for Works, Water and Energy. Panapa has held other roles as a senior civil servant, including in 2011 as Secretary for Education, Youth and Sports.
