CUJZEK Stud
CUJZEK Stud (), meaning "Center for breeding and protection of the Međimurje horse" () is a small stud farm comprising around 20 acres in western part of Međimurje County, Croatia. It is located at the Macinec village in the Nedelišće municipality. Establishment and development Established on 23 April 2020, CUJZEK Stud is opened for the development of Međimurje horse breeding in order to help preserve and revitalize this breed, one of Croatian medium-heavy horse breeds of draft horse, draught horse which is particularly endangered today. In the first half of 2024, about fifteen mares, stallions and foals of the Međimurje horse were housed at that location. Gornji Mihaljevec
Gornji Mihaljevec () is a village and municipality in Međimurje County, in northern Croatia. History The oldest archaeological finds in Gornji Mihaljevec municipality are from the Roman period. Fragments of Roman roads were found in the villages of Preseka, Prhovec, Martinuševec and Tupkovec. These fragments are part of a road that led from Poetovio to Carnuntum The settlement Gornji Mihaljevec is first time mentioned in charter issued in year 1478 as ''Michalowecz Maius''. In year 1789 Catholic parish of Saint Catherine was established in Gornji Mihaljevec. In October 1931 villages Badličan, Preseka, and Prhovec were separated from Čakovec District and the rest of Međimurje and placed under authority of Ptuj District in Drava Banovina. Lipik Stud
The Lipik Stud () is a Croatian Lipizzan horse national breeding stud farm located in Lipik, Požega-Slavonia County. The Stud originated in 1843 as count Izidor Janković built large stables on his estate. Today it comprises approximately 106 acres in the western part of the Town of Lipik, with a total of 74 horses, 70 of which are Lipizzans. History Founded in 1843 by Count Izidor Janković, Lipik Stud had around twenty horses at the beginning. In 1906 a new owner, Stjepan Layer from Virovitica, possessed twenty Lipizzan, Nonius and Anglo-Arabian mares and three stallions. In 1936 the Stud was enlarged with approximately new 60 horses, whereas in 1954 this number increased to approximately 250. The horse breeding was suddenly interrupted in the late 1960s by the local authorities and it was only in the early 1980s that it began to recover. Đakovo Stud
The Đakovo Stud () is a Croatian Lipizzan horse national breeding stud farm located in Đakovo, Osijek-Baranja County, eastern Slavonia. First mentioned in 1239 and 1244, it officially originated in 1506, as it was written that Bishop Mijo Mesarić „owned a stud farm of 90 Arab horses“ on his estate. In recent times, it has developed into an important breeding farm, which comprises today approximately 790 acres of land and breeds as many as 160 horses in the Town of Đakovo and its surroundings. History The stud has been founded by Bosnian- Syrmian bishops who held estates in Đakovo granted by Coloman, King of Halych and Herceg (Duke) of Slavonia in 1239. Alkars' Stud
Alkars' Stud () is a horse breeding farm founded in 2004 in Sinj, Split-Dalmatia County, Croatia. Its main purpose is breeding of high-quality horses for Sinjska alka equestrian competitions. It is situated at the Sinj hippodrome, where approximately forty horses have been housed, mostly of the English Thoroughbred and Croatian Warmblood breeds. Establishment and development The main initiator and founder of the stud is the „Alka Knights' Society“ ("Viteško Alkarsko društvo" - VAD) from Sinj, which, due to the specific situation caused by the gradual reduction of horse breeding on private peasant properties, decided to organize its own breeding programme.
