CIP/KIP
The CIP/KIP (CDK interacting protein/Kinase inhibitory protein) family is one of two families (CIP/KIP and INK4) of mammalian cyclin dependent kinase ( CDK) inhibitors ( CKIs) involved in regulating the cell cycle. The CIP/KIP family is made up of three proteins: p21cip1/waf1, P27kip1, p57kip2 These proteins share sequence homology at the N-terminal domain which allows them to bind to both the cyclin and CDK. Their activity primarily involves the binding and inhibition of G1/S- and S-Cdks; however, they have also been shown to play an important role in activating the G1-CDKs CDK4 and CDK6. In addition, more recent work has shown that CIP/KIP family members have a number of CDK-independent roles involving regulation of transcription, apoptosis, and the cytoskeleton. Role in cell cycle progression CIP/KIP family proteins bind a wide range of G1/S and S-phase cyclin-CDK complexes including cyclin D-CDK4,6 and cyclin E-, A-CDK2 complexes. Traditionally it was assumed that ... [...More Info...] [...Related Items...] OR: [Wikipedia] [Google] [Baidu] |

Kruzenshtern & Parohod
Kruzenshtern & Parohod () (KIP) is an Israeli klezmer-rock (music), rock band from Tel Aviv founded by the Israeli musician and composer Igor Krutogolov. The name of the band is a pun easily recognizable by post-Soviet Russophones. The pun is based on a catch phrase "Admiral Ivan Fyodorovich Kruzenshtern, a man and a steamship" from the popular Soviet animated film series, ''Prostokvashino''. The phrase was coined from the title of a requiem poem by Vladimir Mayakovsky, ''s:ru:Товарищу Нетте пароходу и человеку (Маяковский), To Comrade Nette, a Steamship and a Man''. The fictional steamship’s name “Admiral Ivan Fyodorovich Kruzenshtern“ implies the Russian admiral and explorer Adam Johann von Krusenstern and a real sailing ship named ''Kruzenshtern (ship), Kruzenshtern''. "Parohod" means "steamship" in Russian. History Kruzenshtern & Parohod The band was formed in 2002 by Igor Krutogolov (bass, voice) and his friends Ruslan Gross (c ... Kip (artistic Gymnastics)
In artistic gymnastics, a kip is a technique that involves flexing or piking at the hips, and then rapidly extending the hip joints to impart momentum. It may be performed in some form on all apparatuses, but is most commonly performed on the women's uneven bars and on the men's rings, parallel bars, and horizontal bar. The kip is an important technique that is used as both a mount and an element or connecting technique in a bar routine. The kip allows the gymnast to swing below the bar to arrive in a front support on the bar. From the front support, the gymnast may then perform any number of skills. The glide kip is the most commonly used mount on the women's uneven bars. The kip has been used since the early days of modern gymnastics. Currently, in the US, the kip first appears in the women's USAG Level 4. Variations Variations of the kip include the long hang kip, glide kip,Goeller, Karen M"Ahhh...
