CBQS-FM
CBQT-FM is a Canadian radio station. It is the CBC Radio One station in Thunder Bay, Ontario, broadcasting at 88.3 FM, and serves all of Northwestern Ontario through a network of relay transmitters. History The station was launched in 1973 as CBQ on 800 AM. The 800 frequency had been vacated earlier that year by the defunct CJLX, an independent private station which had begun broadcasting in 1959 but went off the air on March 31, 1973 upon expiry of that station's licence after its parent company, Lakehead Broadcasting, failed to renew the licence amid questions about the station's ownership. After the CBC acquired the 800 frequency and the studio facilities of CJLX on Miles Street, CBQ's inaugural morning broadcast in December 1973 made it the second city in Ontario to get a regional broadcast centre. All-news radio is a radio format devoted entirely to the discussion and broadcast of news. All-news radio is available in both local and radio syndication, syndicated forms, and is carried on both major US satellite radio networks. Greenstone is a single-tier municipality in the Canadian province of Ontario with a population of 4,636 according to the 2016 Canadian census. It stretches along Highway 11 from Lake Nipigon to Longlac and covers . The town was formed in 2001, as part of municipal re-organization under the Progressive Conservative government of Ontario. It combined the former Townships of Beardmore and Nakina, the Towns of Geraldton and Longlac with large unincorporated portions of Unorganized Thunder Bay District. Armstrong, Thunder Bay District, Ontario
Armstrong is a compact rural community, unincorporated place, and divisional point on the Canadian National Railway transcontinental railway main line in the unorganized portion of Thunder Bay District in Northwestern Ontario, Canada. The Whitesand First Nation's Armstrong Settlement is coterminous to this community. The Armstrong area is a popular tourist destination in the summer for fishing and hunting. The community is not part of an incorporated municipality, but is administered by a local services board. Canadian Forces Station Armstrong, located east of Armstrong, was closed in 1974. Later that year the base was sold to private owners and turned into a popular gathering area for the town that included a restaurant and bar, hotel, multiple apartments, garages, and a curling rink. CBW is the call sign of the CBC Radio One station in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The station broadcasts at 990 kHz. CBW is a non-commercial Class A Clear-channel station reserved for Canada under the North American Regional Broadcasting Agreement (NARBA) allocations. CBW's studios are located on Portage Avenue ( Winnipeg Route 85) in Downtown Winnipeg, while its transmitters are located near Beaudry Provincial Park in Springstein. Due to the station's transmitter power and Manitoba's mostly flat land (with near-perfect ground conductivity), CBW 990 reaches almost all of southern Manitoba during the day and much of the middle portion of North America at night.
