C-class Sydney Tram
The C-class trams were a class of single bogie end-loading electric trams operated on the Trams in Sydney, Sydney tram network. History Between 1896 and 1900, 97 C-class trams were built by three Sydney firms; Bignall & Morrison, Hudson Brothers and Clyde Engineering with bogies supplied by the Peckham Motor Truck & Wheel Co, Kingston, New York. There were four different body types, with variations in width, length, number of windows, and seating capacity (20-26). Three (289-291) were built as trailer cars, later being fitted with power equipment. A typical C-class tram featured a single saloon passenger area comprised two longitudinal timber benches facing inwards, accommodating 22 seated passengers, with standing room in the centre aisle. Ridge Street Tram Depot
Ridge Street Tram Depot was part of the Sydney tram network. History Ridge Street Depot was originally a cable tram depot and winding engine house that opened in 1886. On the conversion to electric operation the depot was extensively rebuilt in 1902 to enlarge the tram shed to twelve roads. The depot closed on 3 June 1909, replaced by North Sydney Depot. The old cable shed and winding engine house was demolished and the carriage sheds converted to a cinema (now the Independent Theatre) while the electric tram sheds were closed in 1909 and converted into the North Sydney Coliseum Roller Rink which became the Sydnian Theatre of Pictures in 1913 and reverting to the name Coliseum in 1915 .The Coliseum Theatre (Biograph) next door became a Vaudeville theatre six months after opening and remains a 'live' venue to the present day. The Illawarra Light Railway Museum operates a mainline narrow gauge light railway, a miniature gauge railway, and a museum located in Albion Park Rail, New South Wales, Australia. Randwick Bus Depot is a bus depot in the Sydney suburb of Randwick operated by Transdev John Holland. History In 1881 the Randwick Tramway Workshops were established on the corner of Darley Road and King Street, Randwick as the main workshops for the Sydney tram network. It also had a depot attached. In 1902 the workshops were renamed the Randwick Tramway Workshops. Waverley Bus Depot, originally Waverley Tram Depot, is a bus depot in the Sydney suburb of Bondi Junction operated by Transdev John Holland. History Waverley Tram Depot opened on 7 September 1902 as a seventeen road depot on the corner of Oxford Street and York Road, Bondi Junction. Ultimo Tram Depot
Ultimo Tram Depot was part of the Sydney tram network. History Ultimo Tram Depot opened on 8 December 1899 adjacent to the Ultimo Power Station. It was the depot for trams operating services to Pyrmont, Ryde, and Erskineville. It was situated on the eastern side of Harris Street adjacent to the Darling Harbour railway line. The depot closed on 27 June 1953 following the decision to replace trams with buses on the Drummoyne service.
