Joseph Guillermo Jones II (born July 15, 1976), better known by his stage name Jim Jones (or Jimmy Jones), is an American rapper and record executive. He is a founding member of now-defunct hip-hop group the Diplomats (also known as Dipset), who formed in 1997 with fellow Harlem native Cam'ron. Following the commercially successful release of the group's debut album ''Diplomatic Immunity'' (2003), Jones released his debut solo album, '' On My Way to Church'' (2004), independently to moderate success. His second and third albums, '' Harlem: Diary of a Summer'' (2005) and '' Hustler's P.O.M.E. (Product of My Environment)'' (2006), both peaked within the top ten of the ''Billboard'' 200. American rapper Jim Jones has released eight studio albums, five collaborative albums, three compilation albums, two extended plays (EPs), nineteen mixtapes and 47 singles (including 17 as a featured artist). Jones is perhaps best known for being a member of East Coast hip hop group The Diplomats (also known as Dipset), with whom he recorded several mixtapes with before releasing their debut album ''Diplomatic Immunity'', in 2003. In August 2004, Jones released his solo debut album '' On My Way to Church'', under Diplomat Records and E1 Music (formerly Koch Records). The Diplomats
The Diplomats (also known as Dipset) were an American Hip hop music, hip hop collective formed in the summer of 1997 by childhood friends Cam'ron and Jim Jones (rapper), Jimmy Jones in Harlem, New York City. The group was originally composed of Cam'ron, Jim Jones and Freekey Zekey, all of whom grew up together in Harlem. In 1999, fellow Harlem-based rapper Juelz Santana joined the group. In 2001, following Cam'ron's signing, the group secured a recording contract with Roc-A-Fella Records. It subsequently began recording its debut album, ''Diplomatic Immunity (The Diplomats album), Diplomatic Immunity'', and released it on the aforementioned labels in March 2003. It was written by Jones and produced by Zukhan Bey who produced his previous single, " Baby Girl". Music video The music video was directed by Dale Resteghini (a.k.a. RAGE) and Jim Jones (a.k.a.
