Hans Buser
Hans Buser (23 September 1513 – 19 August 1544), also known as Hans von Buus, was of the Amt of Liestal from 1536 until his death in 1544. Biography Born in Läufelfingen, he was the first born son to Lord Hans Buser I. He had at least one brother, Oswald, and an unknown number of sisters. He was just 23 years old when his father died and he inherited his lands. His humble ancestors hailing from the small, local village of Buus in the Amt of Liestal, the young and ambitious Lord Buser sought to increase his family's wealth and influence in both the Prince-Bishopric of Basel and the Holy Roman Empire as a whole. Using his political pull with the Prince-Bishop, he arranged a marriage to the last daughter of Johann von Sachsen, Margaret . By this connection to the royal family of the Empire, the marriage significantly increased his family's authority in the region and greater respect among the noble houses. Jürg Peter Buser, known as Peter Buser, (born 27 February 1946 in Basel) is a Swiss mathematician, specializing in differential geometry and global analysis. Education and career Buser received his doctorate in 1976 from the University of Basel with advisor Heinz Huber and thesis ''Untersuchungen über den ersten Eigenwert des Laplaceoperators auf kompakten Flächen'' (Studies on the first eigenvalue of the Laplace operator on compact surfaces). As a post-doctoral student he was at the University of Bonn, the University of Minnesota. and the State University of New York at Stony Brook, before he habilitated at the University of Bonn with a thesis on the length spectrum of Riemann surfaces. Buser is known for his construction of curved isospectral surfaces (published in 1986 and 1988). Martin Buser
Martin Buser (born March 29, 1958) is a champion of sled dog racing. Born in Winterthur, Switzerland, Buser began mushing at age seventeen in Switzerland. In 1979, he moved to Alaska to train and raise sled dogs full-time. His training operation, Happy Trails Kennels, is located in Big Lake, Alaska. He entered his first Iditarod in 1980, and has run every race since 1986, his third Iditarod. Buser has won the event four times, in 1992, 1994, 1997, and 2002. On sixteen occasions, he has finished among the top ten finishers. He ran the fastest finish time on the previous route which was a longer race than it is now. In 2002, the race started in Wasilla. Now it starts in Willow, making the race about 80 miles shorter. In 2002, his team completed the 80 mile longer race in 8 days, 22 hours, 46 minutes, and 2 seconds. Eduard Buser
Eduard Buser (25 February 1913 – after 1938) was a Swiss footballer who played as a forward. Buser joined FC Basel's first team for the first time for their 1931–32 season. He made his domestic league debut for the club in the away game on 6 September 1931 as Basel were defeated 1–8 by Lugano. This was his only game for the club for some time. Buser rejoined Basel's first team in their 1937–38 season. In the second half of the season he played regularly.
