Barbara Josephine Bulat, known professionally as Basia Bulat (), is a Canadian Folk music, folk singer-songwriter. She is known for performing with an autoharp. Early life and education Bulat grew up in Etobicoke, Ontario where her mother was a music teacher who taught piano and guitar. She is of Polish origin and a member of the Polish-Canadians, Canadian Polonia. She has said the radio at home was permanently tuned to an oldies station. "I don't think I realised the radio had more than one station until I was 11 or 12," she says. She attended the University of Western Ontario in the city of London, Ontario where she received a degree in English; she also took some classes with Olenka Krakus of the band Olenka and the Autumn Lovers. Bulat Shalvovich Okudzhava (; ka, ბულატ ოკუჯავა; ; May 9, 1924 – June 12, 1997) was a Soviet and Russian poet, writer, musician, novelist, and singer-songwriter of Georgian-Armenian ancestry. He was one of the founders of the Soviet genre called " author song" (''авторская песня'', ''avtorskaya pesnya''), or "guitar song", and the author of about 200 songs, set to his own poetry. Nikol Bulat (born 16 October 1987) is a Croatian former singer. Biography Nikol Bulat was born in Šibenik, SR Croatia, Yugoslavia on 16 October 1987. In 2006 she competed for the position of lead singer of Magazin, popular pop music band from Split, after Jelena Rozga had left it. She performed their song "Opijum" (''Opium'') but she lost to Ivana Kovač. In 2008 she became a member of Feminnem. Rade Bulat (28 August 1920 – 25 January 2013) was a Yugoslav Partisan and communist activist. He was one of the last three living recipients of the Order of the People's Hero in Croatia. Biography Bulat was born August 28, 1920, in Vrginmost within the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes. He attended gymnasium in Sisak, Gradiška and Zagreb. In 1936 he joined the Young Communist League of Yugoslavia and was accepted into the Communist Party of Yugoslavia in 1939. After the April War he joined the Yugoslav Partisans. In 1942 he joined the Headquarters of the People's Liberation Movement of Croatia. He led the 13th Proletarian Attack Brigade from late 1942 on.
