Bukit Chandan is a state constituency in Perak, Malaysia, that has been represented in the Perak State Legislative Assembly since 1974. The state constituency was created in the 1974 redistribution and is mandated to return a single member to the Perak State Legislative Assembly under the first past the post voting system. Perak
Perak (; Perak Malay: ''Peghok'') is a States and federal territories of Malaysia, state of Malaysia on the west coast of the Malay Peninsula. The Perak State Legislative Assembly () is the unicameral state legislature of the Malaysian state of Perak. It is composed of 59 members representing single-member constituencies throughout the state. 2022 Perak State Election
The 2022 Perak state election, formally the 15th Perak state election, took place on 19 November 2022. This election was to elect 59 members of the 15th Perak State Legislative Assembly. The previous assembly was dissolved on 17 October 2022. The results of the election resulted in a hung assembly, Perikatan Nasional (PN) won 26 seats, Pakatan Harapan (PH) won 24 while the incumbent Barisan Nasional (BN) which led the administration before election, only won 9. 2008 Perak State Election
The 12th Perak state election was held on 8 March 2008. Polling took place in 59 constituencies throughout the State of Perak, with each electing a state assemblyman to the Perak State Legislative Assembly. The election was conducted by the Malaysian Election Commission. The state election was held concurrently with the 2008 Malaysian general election. The election proved to be a watershed in Perak's history, as the incumbent government from Barisan Nasional (BN) was handed an unprecedented and shocking defeat by the opposition, making the election the second time Perak's ruling party was voted out of power; the first was in 1969 when then Alliance Party failed to gain a majority against opposition parties. Wan Mohammad Khair-il Anuar Wan Ahmad
Datuk Wan Mohammad Khair-il Anuar bin Wan Ahmad (16 January 1960 – 5 May 2016) was a Malaysian politician, architect, and entrepreneur who served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Kuala Kangsar from May 2013 to his death right after three years in May 2016. He also served as the Chairman of Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB). He was a native of Kuala Kangsar. 2018 Perak State Election
The 14th Perak State election was held on 9 May 2018. The previous state election was held on 5 May 2013. Each of the state assemblymen are elected to a five-year term each. The Perak State Legislative Assembly automatically dissolved on 28 June 2018, the fifth anniversary of the first sitting, and elections were required to be held within sixty days (two months) of the dissolution (on or before 28 August 2018, with the date to be decided by the Election Commission), unless dissolved prior to that date by the Head of State (Sultan of Perak) on the advice of the Head of Government (Menteri Besar of Perak).
