Buem
The Buem constituency is one of the constituencies represented in the Parliament of Ghana. It elects one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post system of election. It is located in the Jasikan district of the Oti Region of Ghana. The language spoken is a variation of the Guan language. Boundaries The constituency is located within the Jasikan district of the Oti Region of Ghana. It is one of two constituencies in this district, the other being the Akan constituency. The constituency was originally located within the Volta Region of Ghana until new regions were created following the December 2018 referendum. Kofi Adams
Kofi Iddie Adams (born 2 May 1975) is a Ghanaian politician who is a member of the National Democratic Congress. He was elected a member of Parliament for the Buem Constituency in the Oti region in 2020, and re-elected for the same constituency in 2024. Henry Ford Kamel
Henry Ford Kofi Kamel (21 December 1961 – 25 December 2012) was a Ghanaian banker and politician. He was the Member of Parliament for the Buem constituency from January 2005 and also the Volta Region Minister from March 2012 until his death on 25 December 2012. Early life and education Kamel hails from Guanam, a place in the Volta Region of Ghana. He was born on 21 December 1961. He attended Ho Technical University. Career Kamel trained as a banker and economist by profession. He worked as the managing director of the North Volta Rural Bank Limited. Parliament Kamel was a member of the National Democratic Congress. He won his last election on 7 December 2012 by a majority of 13,627. Francis Yao Asare
Francis Yao Asare was a Ghanaian pharmacist and politician. He served on various ministerial portfolios and served as a member of parliament for the Buem constituency during the first republic. Early life and education Francis was born in Baroda in Southern Togoland. He was educated at Presbyterian School in Anum Mfantsipim School in Cape Coast. Career and politics He trained as a druggist at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and worked as a pharmacist for the Ghana Civil Service from 1940 to 1947. He served on Buem Krachi Native Authority, Southern Togoland Council and was elected to the Legislative Assembly representing Buem in 1951. Eric Kwame Heymann
Eric Kwame Heymann (29 March 1928 – 2 June 1987) was a Ghanaian journalist and politician. He was the first Editor-in-chief of the '' Accra Evening News''. He also served as the Chairman of the Association of Ghana Journalists and Writers. From 1965 to 1966, he was the member of parliament for the Buem constituency. Jasikan District
Jasikan Municipal District is one of the nine districts in Oti Region, Ghana. Originally created as an ordinary district assembly on 10 March 1989, which was created from the former Jasikan District Council, which it was established by Legislative Instrument (L.I.) 1464, until the western part of the district was split off to create Biakoye District on 29 February 2008, which was established by Legislative Instrument (L.I.) 1901; thus the remaining part has been retained as Jasikan District. Oti Region
The Oti Region is one of the six newly created regions of Ghana in December 2018. The region was carved out of the Volta Region and will be in fulfillment of a campaign promise made by New Patriotic Party. Prior to the 2016 Ghanaian general election, the then candidate Nana Akufo-Addo declared that when elected, he would explore the possibility of creating new regions out of some of the existing regions in Ghana in order to bring government closer to citizens. The region was inaugurated on May 14, 2019. It has Dambai as its regional capital.
