Bruce Tschirpig
Bruce Tschirpig (born 11 October 1949) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Richmond in the Victorian Football League (VFL) during the 1970s. Tschirpig grew up on the family farm south of Moorook, South Australia, and attended Loxton High School. After moving to Wentworth, New South Wales, he won the McLeod Medal in 1969 and 1970 as the Best and Fairest player in the Sunraysia Football League. This brought attention from Richmond. He made eight appearances in the 1971 VFL season which included a four-goal haul in a win over Carlton at the Melbourne Cricket Ground to celebrate Roger Dean's 200th game. Although he played in Richmond's final home and away season fixture, Tschirpig was not called upon for the finals. He left for Latrobe the following season and while playing for the Tasmania club represented the state at the 1975 Knockout Carnival. Richmond Football Club
The Richmond Football Club, nicknamed the Tigers, is an Australian rules football team playing in the Australian Football League (AFL). Between its inception in the Melbourne suburb of Richmond in 1885 and 1907, the club competed in the Victorian Football Association (VFA), winning two premierships. Richmond joined the Victorian Football League (now known as the AFL) in 1908 and has since won 13 premierships, most recently in 2020. Richmond's headquarters and training facilities are located at its original home ground, the Punt Road Oval, which sits adjacent to the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), the club's playing home since 1965. The Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), also known locally as "The 'G", is an Australian sports stadium located in Yarra Park, Melbourne, Victoria. The 1975 Knockout Carnival was the 19th Australian National Football Carnival, an Australian rules football interstate competition. The tournament was won by Victoria. The 1975 carnival represented a significant change in format for the carnival. Previous carnivals had all been played as a stand-alone event in a single host city, with each team playing the others in a round robin competition; but the 1975 carnival was played as a shortened knock-out tournament and split between two cities. Roger Dean (Australian Rules Footballer)
Roger Edward Dean (born 30 April 1940) is a former Australian rules footballer who played in the VFL between 1957 and 1973 for the Richmond Football Club. Dean was one of the last elite Australian footballers born and bred in the local suburb for which he played. After the fastest rise of any player in VFL/AFL history, Dean's career bridged two eras with the Tigers: the battling years when the club farewelled their old Punt Road Oval, and the beginning of their glory days which began with a move to the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
