Bronka Nowicka
Bronka Nowicka (born 1974) is a Polish writer and artist. She was born in Radomsk and studied film direction at Łódź Film School. She also studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków. She went on to pursue a PhD in fine art, focusing on multimedia. Nowicka's interest in new media has led her to experiment with tomographics and tomovideo. Nowicka is also an accomplished writer. Her first book, a collection of prose poetry titled ''Nakarmić kamień'' (''To Feed a Stone''), appeared in 2015. Radomsk
Radomsk () is a hasidic dynasty named after the town of Radomsko in Łódź province, south-central Poland. The dynasty was founded in 1843 by Shlomo Hakohen Rabinowicz (known as the ''Tiferes Shlomo''). His son, grandson and great-grandson also led the dynasty, which had thousands of followers. On the eve of World War II, Radomsk was the third largest Hasidic dynasty in Poland, after Ger and Alexander. The town of Radomsko was destroyed and most of its Jews deported and killed during the German occupation of Poland in World War II. The fourth Radomsker rebbe, Shlomo Chanoch Hakohen Rabinowicz, was murdered by the Nazis in the Warsaw Ghetto in 1942, bringing the father-to-son dynasty to an end. The Polish National Film, Television and Theatre School in Łódź (), commonly known as the Łódź Film School (), is a Polish film school for future actors, directors, photographers, camera operators, and television staff. It was founded on 8 March 1948 in Łódź (Lodz). Nike Literary Award
The Nike Literary Award (, pronounced ) is a literary prize awarded each year for the best book of a single living author writing in Polish and published the previous year. It is widely considered the most important award for Polish literature. Established in 1997 and funded by ''Gazeta Wyborcza'', Poland's second largest daily paper, and the consulting company NICOM, it is conferred annually in October. It is open for nominees from all literary genres, including non-fiction essays and autobiographies. Each year, a nine-member jury selects the laureate in a three-stage process. Twenty official nominees are accepted in May, out of which seven finalists are declared in September. The final decision does not take place until the day of the award ceremony in October.
