British Triathlon Association
The British Triathlon Federation (formerly the British Triathlon Association) is the national governing body for triathlon, duathlon and associated multisport in Great Britain. It administers triathlon in England, Scotland, Wales, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man. It represents Britain at the world body, the International Triathlon Union (ITU) and the regional body the European Triathlon Union (ETU). The BTF also selects athletes to represent the national team, at races such as the world triathlon series and the Olympic games. The World Triathlon Championship Series is an annual series of triathlon events organised by World Triathlon. The series is used to crown an annual world champion since 2008. Previously, the ITU (the former name of World Triathlon) world champion between 1989 and 2008 had been decided in a single annual championship race. The Championship Series consists of multiple rounds of competitions culminating in a Grand Final race. Triathlon Ireland (, formerly the Irish Triathlon Association, is the governing body of triathlon, and duathlon, on the island of Ireland. It was founded in 1984. Darren Coombes has been the CEO since 2020. The organisation is one of a number of governing bodies based in Sports Campus Ireland in Fingal. It joined the Olympic Federation of Ireland in 2000.
