Bridget Turner
Bridget Joanna Turner (22 February 1939 – 27 December 2014) was an English actress. Turner played a radical English teacher, Judy Threadgold, opposite Alun Armstrong's woodwork teacher in Alan Plater's '' Get Lost!'' for Yorkshire Television, shown in 1981. Armstrong was unavailable for a sequel, so it was completely recast and became '' The Beiderbecke Affair'' with the parts going to Barbara Flynn and James Bolam. She played Phyllis in Alan Ayckbourn's TV film '' Season's Greetings (play)''. On 8 May 2009, John Cleese stated in an interview that Turner was the original choice in 1974 for the role of Sybil Fawlty in ''Fawlty Towers''. Cleethorpes () is a seaside town on the estuary of the Humber in North East Lincolnshire, Lincolnshire, England with a population of 29,678 in 2021. It has been permanently occupied since the 6th century, with fishing as its original industry, then developing into a resort in the 19th century. Frank Cox (director)
Frank Dixon Cox (28 May 1940 – 27 April 2021) was a British television director from the 1960s to the 1990s. He was married to actress Bridget Turner until her death in 2014. Cox studied English at the University of Leeds from which he graduated in 1962. He did not get into the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA), but took a job as a floor assistant at the BBC. He was then offered a position on the BBC's training course for directors. Among his first assignments were three episodes of the first season of ''Doctor Who''. Of all the directors who worked on the 1963 to 1989 run of ''Doctor Who'', Cox was the only one who did not direct an entire serial at some stage. He died in April 2021 at the age of 80. Lizzie Andrew Borden (July 19, 1860 – June 1, 1927) was an American woman who was Trial, tried and Acquittal, acquitted of the August 4, 1892 axe murders of her Patricide, father and stepmother in Fall River, Massachusetts. No one else was charged in the murders and, despite ostracism from other residents, Borden spent the remainder of her life in Fall River. ''Compact'' is a British television soap opera shown by BBC Television from January 1962 to July 1965, created by Hazel Adair and Peter Ling. Production and release The idea came to Hazel Adair when she submitted a commissioned feature article for '' Woman's Own''. Adair and Ling devised the long-running soap '' Crossroads'' while ''Compact'' was still running. In contrast to the kitchen sink realism of ''Coronation Street'', ''Compact'' was a distinctly middle-class serial, set in the more "sophisticated" arena of magazine publishing.
