Brenda Leithleiter Sharman (born 1968) is an American model and beauty queen from Vinings, Georgia who has competed in the Miss USA pageant. Leithleiter won the Miss Georgia USA 1990 title in November 1989. She went on to represent Georgia in the Miss USA 1990 pageant broadcast live from Wichita, Kansas on March 2, 1990. Leithleiter became the fifth consecutive delegate from her state to make the semi-finals, with the second highest average score in the preliminary competition. She went on to place eighth in the interview competition, eighth in evening gown and second in swimsuit, which gave her an average score of 9.036 that put her into the top six in sixth place. The Miss Georgia USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of Georgia in the Miss USA pageant. This pageant is directed Greenwood Productions under the ownership of Miss Tennessee USA 1989 Kim Greenwood and it is hosted in McDonough, Georgia. Georgia has had a fair success at Miss USA, and has yet to win the title. The best placement was Erin Nance, who placed 1st runner-up in 1993, and many 2nd and 4th runner-ups. Miss USA is an American beauty pageant that has been held annually since 1952 to select the entrant from United States in the Miss Universe pageant. The Miss Universe Organization operated both pageants, as well as Miss Teen USA, until 2020, when the organization announced it was licensing operation of the Miss USA and Miss Teen USA pageants to Crystle Stewart, Miss USA for 2008. Carole Anne-Marie Gist (born May 8, 1969) is an American TV host, model and first African American woman to win the Miss USA title. Gist first won the title of Miss Michigan USA and went on to win the Miss USA crown on March 2, 1990, in Wichita, Kansas. The Miss Michigan USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of Michigan in the Miss USA pageant. It is currently directed by Proctor Productions. Their first Miss USA victory was in 1990, and notable because Carole Gist was the first African-American to win the title. Following in her footsteps, Kenya Moore, also African-American, won the title in 1993. In 2010, Michigan's Rima Fakih became the first Arab-American to win the title.
