Braid (District Electoral Area)
Braid is one of the seven district electoral areas (DEA) in Mid and East Antrim, Northern Ireland. The district elects seven members to Mid and East Antrim District Council and contains the wards of Ballee and Harryville, Broughshane, Glenravel, Glenwhirry, Kells, Kirkinriola and Slemish. ARK, accessed 8 July 2023 Braid forms part of the North Antrim constituencies for the North Antrim (Assembly constituency), Northern Ireland Assembly and North Antrim (UK Parliament constituency), UK Parliament. Mid And East Antrim Borough Council
Mid and East Antrim Borough Council is a local authority that was established on 1 April 2015. It replaced Ballymena Borough Council, Carrickfergus Borough Council and Larne Borough Council. Braid Valley was one of the four district electoral areas in Ballymena, Northern Ireland which existed from 1985 to 1993. Social Democratic And Labour Party
The Social Democratic and Labour Party (SDLP) ( ga, Páirtí Sóisialta Daonlathach an Lucht Oibre) is a social-democratic and Irish nationalist political party in Northern Ireland. The SDLP currently has eight members in the Northern Ireland Assembly ( MLAs) and two Members of Parliament (MPs) in the House of Commons of the United Kingdom. The SDLP party platform advocates Irish reunification and further devolution of powers while Northern Ireland remains part of the United Kingdom. Paul Frew
Paul Frew (born 20 September 1974) is a Unionist politician from Northern Ireland representing the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP). Frew served as Minister for the Economy from June to July 2021. He has been a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for North Antrim since 2010. He was elected at the 2005 local elections to Ballymena Borough Council. An independent or non-partisan politician is a politician not affiliated with any political party or bureaucratic association. 2023 Mid And East Antrim District Council Election
The 2023 election to Mid and East Antrim District Council was held on 18 May 2023, alongside other local elections in Northern Ireland, two weeks after local elections in England. The Northern Ireland elections were delayed by 2 weeks to avoid overlapping with the coronation of King Charles III. They returned 40 members to the council via Single Transferable Vote.
