Braehead Clan
The Glasgow Clan (formerly ''Braehead Clan'') are a Scottish professional ice hockey team. It was formed in 2010 as the UK Elite Ice Hockey League expanded into the west of Scotland market, and are based at the Braehead Arena in Renfrewshire. It is one of three Scottish clubs playing in the top British league alongside Dundee Stars and the Fife Flyers. In July 2018, the team officially rebranded from the Braehead Clan to the Glasgow Clan. History Braehead Arena previously hosted the Scottish Eagles ice hockey team for a brief period at beginning of the 2002–03 ISL season following their relocation from Ayr. The Eagles disbanded in November 2002 due to financial troubles. Basingstoke Bison
The Basingstoke Bison are an English Ice Hockey club from Basingstoke. They currently compete in the National Ice Hockey League , NIHL National League and have previously been members of the Ice Hockey Superleague and its successor the Elite Ice Hockey League. History Formed in 1988 as the Basingstoke Beavers, the club became the "Bison" in 1995. Their team logo is very similar to the "Goathead" used by the Buffalo Sabres from 1996 to 2006. Joining the Superleague in 1996, the Bison dropped out in 1998 and joined the British National League (1996–2005), British National League. In 2003 they joined the newly formed Elite Ice Hockey League. International Hockey League (2007-)
The United Hockey League (UHL), originally known as the Colonial Hockey League from 1991 to 1997 and last known as the International Hockey League from 2007 to 2010, was a low-level minor professional ice hockey league, with teams in the United States and Canada. The league was headquartered in Rochester, Michigan, and, in its last year, consisted of seven teams. It folded in 2010, with most of its teams joining the Central Hockey League. The Central Hockey League teams still operating in 2014 were then added to ECHL. The only former CoHL/UHL/IHL teams still active as of 2024 are the Fort Wayne Komets and Kalamazoo Wings. The Port Huron Icehawks were a minor professional ice hockey team based in Port Huron, Michigan. They were a member of the International Hockey League and played their home games at McMorran Arena from 2007 to 2010. History The franchise was announced on June 20, 2007, as part of the new International Hockey League (IHL), a rebrand of the United Hockey League. The Icehawks were owned by Larry Kinney, owner and CEO of Datapak Services Corporation of Howell, Michigan. The Belfast Giants (known officially as the Stena Line Belfast Giants due to sponsorship) are a professional ice hockey team based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. They compete in the UK's Elite Ice Hockey League, Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL). They play their home games at the Odyssey (Belfast), SSE Arena (formerly known as the Odyssey Arena) and are owned by the Odyssey Trust, a charitable company set up to hold and maintain the Odyssey complex, including the SSE Arena and its facilities. Adam Walker (ice Hockey)
Adam Walker (born 14 July 1986) is a Scottish professional ice hockey player. He is currently the head coach of the Paisley Pirates of the Scottish National League. He previously in the British Elite Ice Hockey League for the Cardiff Devils, Manchester Phoenix and the Braehead Clan. Career In 2001, Walker began his career icing for the Fife Flyers, his local team, playing at BNL level. Walker made his professional debut at only 14 years of age, registering an assist in his first game. Sheffield Scimitars
Sheffield Scimitars were a semi-professional English ice hockey team, formed originally in 1986 as an Under 21 side. They initially played at the small 500 capacity Sheffield Ice Sports Centre, more commonly known as Queens Road, and became a senior side in the 1990s, playing in the ENIHL. The team moved to the iceSheffield complex upon it opening in 2002, where they became successful in the ENIHL and made the step-up to the EPL in 2005–06. Their mascot was a male hockey player with a large smiling head named "Scimi", shirt number 00. Swindon Wildcats
The Swindon Wildcats are a professional ice hockey team based in Swindon, Wiltshire, England. They play in the National Ice Hockey League (NIHL). Since their inception, the Wildcats have played their home games at the 1600-capacity Link Centre in West Swindon. The club was founded in 1986 as the Swindon Wildcats, shortly after the opening of the Link Centre. The Wildcats were members of the English Premier Ice Hockey League (EPIHL) from 1997 to 2017. Due to the instability of the EPIHL following the culmination of the 2016–17 season, the Swindon Wildcats announced their intention to join the National League. English Premier Ice Hockey League
The English Premier Ice Hockey League (EPIHL) was an ice hockey league of 10 teams, all of which were based in England. Headquartered in Blackpool, the EPIHL was one of two professional ice hockey leagues in the United Kingdom (the other being the Elite Ice Hockey League). A total of 27 teams played in the league at one time or another. Swindon Wildcats were the only team to have consistently featured in the EPIHL from its inaugural season in 1997-98. Bruce Richardson (born June 8, 1977) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player best known for his time playing for Braehead Clan and the Nottingham Panthers in the British Elite Ice Hockey League and for the Hershey Bears in the American Hockey League.
