Karsten Braasch
Karsten Braasch (born 14 July 1967) is a German former professional tennis player. His highest ATP singles ranking was World No. 38, which he reached in June 1994. His career-high in doubles was World No. 36, achieved in November 1997. He won six ATP doubles titles and made one ATP singles final in 1994. He was well-noted for his service motion and his habit of smoking during changeovers. Career Juniors As a junior, Braasch only played one tournament which was 1985 Junior Wimbledon. He reached the second round before losing to 9th seed Brett Custer in straight sets. Pro career Braasch turned pro in 1987 but his first ATP ranking dates back to 1986. He played solely on the ATP Challenger Tour for the beginning of his career with moderate results. Gary Braasch (1944 – March 7, 2016) was an American environmental photographer and writer focusing on nature and biodiversity across the globe. Braasch was born in Omaha, Nebraska, and made his home in Oregon. Work Braasch has been photographing for over 40 years and has been published by ''Time'', ''Life'', ''The New York Times Magazine'', ''Discover'', '' National Geographic'', ''Nature'', and many more. Braasch has also won the 2006 Ansel Adams Award from the Sierra Club and the Outstanding Nature Photographer citation from the North American Nature Photography Association. He died at the age of 72 while snorkeling at the Great Barrier Reef on March 7, 2016. Antje Braasch
Antje Gleichfeld (née Braasch on 31 March 1938) is a retired German middle-distance runner. Biography Gleichfeld's father was killed on the fronts of World War II, and she had to take odd jobs from the age of six to help support her family. As a teenager she played handball before changing to athletics. Competing in the 800 m Gleichfeld finished fifth at the Olympic Games in 1960 and 1964; she won a bronze medal at the 1966 European Championships. She also won three medals at the Universiade; a gold in 1961 and silver medals in 1963 and 1965. At the 1969 European Championships she won a bronze medal in the 4 × 400 m relay, together with teammates Christa Czekay, Inge Eckhoff and Christel Frese. Domestically she represented the sports club LG Alstertal-Garstedt. She became West German 800 m outdoor champion in 1961, 1963, 1964, 1965 and 1966, and indoor champion in 1962 and 1965.
