Borgward 2
Borgward was a car manufacturing company, based in Bremen, Germany, founded by Carl F. W. Borgward (1890–1963). It produced cars of four brands, which were sold to a diversified international customer base: Borgward, Hansa (car), Hansa, Goliath (car), Goliath and Lloyd (car), Lloyd. Borgward's Borgward Isabella, Isabella was one of the most popular German premium models in the 1950s, while Lloyd's Lloyd 600, Alexander / Lloyd 600 model offered affordable mobility to many working-class motorists. The Borgward 1500 RS race car featured a very modern engine design with four-valve DOHC and fuel injection. Despite success in the ongoing German Wirtschaftswunder economy miracle, Carl Borgward was reckless regarding cash flow, and his group ceased operations in 1961, following controversial insolvency proceedings. Lloyd 600
The Lloyd 600 is a small car produced by the Borgward Group's Lloyd Motoren Werke (Lloyd Motor Works) in Bremen between 1955 and 1961. The Lloyd Alexander was identical to the Lloyd 600 in most respects, but in place of the three speed transmission of the Lloyd 600, the Lloyd Alexander featured a four-speed gear-box (and a higher final drive ratio). The Lloyd Alexander was offered, in parallel with the Lloyd 600, between 1957 and 1961. One difference visible from the outside was that the Lloyd Alexander included an opening hatch into the rear luggage locker, whereas drivers of the Lloyd 600 had to reach behind the rear seat in order to access the luggage locker. There was also a Lloyd Alexander TS offered between 1958 and 1961 which featured a larger carburetor and a high final drive ratio, as a result of which it offered a maximum power output of 25 PS instead of the 19 PS available from the engine fitted to the Lloyd 600 and standard Lloyd Alexander. Goliath Pionier
The Goliath Pionier is a small three-wheeled two-seater vehicle first presented by Carl F. W. Borgward at the 1931 Berlin motor show. It remained in production until 1934, by when approximately 4,000 had been produced. Origins Borgward was an energetic entrepreneur-engineer whose first venture into motorised transport had involved using his refrigerator factory to manufacture the " Blitzkarren", a three-wheeled motorised vehicle first seen in 1924. Its success diverted Borgward into automobile production, and in 1928 he founded the "Goliath Werke Borgward & Co. GmbH". The 1931 launch of the Goliath Pionier was an evolution from the earlier design. In the decade following the First World War Germany experienced desperate poverty, and many micro-car designs were marketed, but the Pionier was both prettier and technically better thought through than competitors, and it enjoyed considerable success. Goliath-Werke Borgward & Co. was a German car manufacturer started by Carl F. W. Borgward and Wilhelm Tecklenborg in 1928, and was part of the Borgward group. Goliath was based in Bremen and specialized in three-wheeler cars and trucks and medium-sized cars. Their vehicles were sold under the Goliath brand. Early history The first models were three-wheeler trucks derived from the motorcycle based ''Blitzkarren'', ''Goliath Rapid'', and ''Standard'' previously built by Borgward. In 1926 appeared the Goliath K1 four-wheeler freight truck with open cab, followed by the 1929 Goliath Express, and with closed driver cab the 1932 Goliath Atlas, also sold as Hansa-Lloyd Atlas. The Blitzkarren (German ) was a cab-less tricycle freight cart based on a motorcycle. It was produced in 1924 as the first complete production vehicle manufactured by the ''Bremer Kühlerfabrik Borgward & Co. GmbH''. The company, located in Sebaldsbrück, a settlement in Hemelingen, Bremen, Germany previously produced radiators and fenders for Hansa-Lloyd. Between 1929 and 1931 Hansa-Lloyd was acquired by Carl Borgward and his co-investor Wilhelm Tecklenborg. Borgward also renamed his radiator manufacturing company to '' Goliath-Werke Borgward & Co. GmbH''. In 1924, responding to a designer complaining about the material transport for radiator production between the workshops by handcart, Borgward constructed this light truck.
