Bonita (Antônio Carlos Jobim Song)
"Bonita" (meaning "Pretty" in English) is a bossa nova song composed by Antônio Carlos Jobim, with lyrics in English credited to Gene Lees and Ray Gilbert. According to Brazilian author Ruy Castro, Jobim composed the song in 1963, after being inspired by "a young woman, Candice Bergen, whom he had the pleasure of meeting at the home of the president of Atlantic Records, Nesuhi Ertegun. The pleasure, by the way, was mutual." Jobim made the first recording of the song in 1965, for his album, ''The Wonderful World of Antonio Carlos Jobim''. In 1969, Frank Sinatra performed the song with Jobim for their planned album ''SinatraJobim,'' but at the last minute, Sinatra stopped release of the record. Seven of the ten songs from those sessions were eventually released as Side A of ''Sinatra & Company'' (1971), but "Bonita" was not included. Bonita Canyon
Bonita Canyon is a box canyon on the western slope of the Chiricahua Mountains in southeastern Arizona, which lies at in elevation and opens in a southwesterly direction into the Sulphur Springs Valley. The canyon walls are capped with outcroppings of volcanic tuff and separated by a narrow valley about a quarter of a mile wide. Bonita Creek flows west through the northern edge of the valley, along the northern wall of the canyon. The valley is carpeted with a variety of wild grasses and forested with oak and Arizona cypress. Animal life includes mountain lions, bobcats, black bear, mule deer, various bird and reptile species, and much more. Jaguars have also been spotted in the canyon. Bonita Canyon is now part of the Chiricahua National Monument and is also home to the Faraway Ranch Historic District, as well as a public campground. ''Bonitasaura'' is a genus of titanosaurian dinosaur hailing from uppermost layers of the Late Cretaceous (Santonian) Bajo de la Carpa Formation, Neuquén Group of the eastern Neuquén Basin, located in Río Negro Province, Northwestern Patagonia, Argentina. The remains, consisting of a partial sub-adult skeleton jumbled in a small area of fluvial sandstone, including a lower jaw with teeth, a partial vertebrae series, and limb bones, were described by Sebastian Apesteguía in 2004. Bonita (fish)
The little tunny (''Euthynnus alletteratus''), also known as the little tuna, false albacore, or erroneously as the blue bonito, is a species of tuna in the family Scombridae. It can be found in the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean and Black seas; in the western Atlantic, it ranges from Brazil to the New England states. The little tunny is a pelagic fish that can be found regularly in both offshore and inshore waters, and it is classified as a highly migratory species. The little tunny is best identified by the "worm-like" markings on its back and the dark spots appearing between its pectoral and ventral fins. Commercially, the fish is used as bait for sharks and marlin due to its high oil content and hook retention. Because of its strong "fishy" taste and the considerable effort required to prepare it, the little tunny is considered by many to be a rough fish and is not commonly eaten. ''Bonita'' was a steamboat which operated on the Willamette and Yamhill rivers. This boat was renamed ''Metlako'' in 1902, and operated under that name until 1924 on the Columbia River and its tributaries, the Cowlitz, Lewis and Lake rivers. In 1924, ''Metlako'' was renamed ''B. H. Smith Jr.'', operating under that name until 1931, when the steamer was abandoned. As ''Bonita'', in September 1900, this vessel was the first steamer to pass through the Yamhill locks. Bonita High School
Bonita High School is a high school located in the city of La Verne, California in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains. Opened in 1903, it was the first high school in the Bonita Unified School District. It moved to its current campus in 1959. The majority of its students come from Ramona Middle School, which is also located in La Verne. The Bearcat athletic teams compete in the Palomares League of the CIF Southern Section. History In 1903, high school classes started on the second floor of a La Verne store. The classes were quickly moved to the building of nearby La Verne Public School (now La Verne Heights Elementary).
