The All Liberian Party (ALP) is a political party in Liberia. History The ALP was certified by the National Elections Commission on August 7, 2015. Benoni Urey served as the first standard bearer of the party. Urey is a businessman who previously served as President Charles Taylor's head of Bureau of Maritime Affairs. At the time of the party's founding, he served as chair of LoneStar Communications Corporation, one of Liberia’s largest cell phone companies. The House of Representatives is the lower chamber of the bicameral legislative branch of Liberia, and together with the Senate comprises the Legislature of Liberia. The number of seats is fixed by law at 73, with each county being apportioned a number of seats based on its percentage of the national population. House members represent single-member districts within the counties drawn up by the National Elections Commission and serve six-year terms. The House meets at the Capitol Building in Monrovia. 2011 Liberian General Election
General elections were held in Liberia on 11 October 2011, with a second round of the presidential election on 8 November. The President of Liberia, presidency, as well as all seats in the House of Representatives of Liberia, House of Representatives and half of the seats in the Senate of Liberia, Senate, were up for election. Unity Party (Liberia)
The Unity Party (UP) is a political party in Liberia that was started in 1984 by Edward B. Kesselly, also its first standard bearer. The Unity Party was founded in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County, on 27 July 1985. The Unity Party participated in the first elections after the 1980 coup, running against President Samuel Doe in October 1985. The party has remained active in Liberian politics since and is the current ruling party following the 2023 Liberian general election.
