Bohdan Khmelnytsky Melitopol State Pedagogical University is a Ukrainian university in Melitopol. It is one of the most developed universities in Zaporizhia, Ukraine. It was established in 1923, and is also one of the leading state universities in the education of teachers. History The institute started with five departments: The Social Economics Department, the Department of Pedagogues, the Department of Language and Literature, the Department of Agriculture and Biology, and the Department of Mathematics. In 1919, training courses for teachers were organized at Melitopol Non-Classical Secondary School. In 1920, a decree on the opening of Pedagogical School was adopted. Melitopol is a city and municipality in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, southeastern Ukraine. It is situated on the Molochna River, which flows through the eastern edge of the city into the Molochnyi Lyman estuary. Melitopol is the second-largest city in the oblast after Zaporizhzhia and serves as the administrative centre of Melitopol Raion.
