Blurtonia
Blurtonia was a Canadian indie rock group formed by Ian Blurton, after the break-up of his previous band, Change of Heart. History Blurtonia was formed in May 1999 to play live shows in support of Blurton's self-released debut ''Adventures in the Kingdom of Blurtonia''. The band began performing in Toronto, including at the Rivoli and at Humble & Fred Fest at Fort York, The album was co-produced by Daryl Smith, Jon McCann played drums in the original line-up and it was later re-released by Sonic Unyon. In addition to ''Adventures'', Blurtonia released a self-titled album on Grenadine Records in 2002. At the time, the band was composed of Ian Blurton on guitar and vox, Al Kelso (ex-The Dinner Is Ruined) on guitar, Randy Curnew on drums, Sam De Medeiros on bass, plus Brendan Canning and Kevin Drew. Ian Blurton (born 1965) is a Canadian musician and record producer. Early life He was born in Champaign, Illinois in 1965, and moved to Toronto in 1973. Musical career He has been a part of Toronto's indie music scene since the early 1980s. Grenadine Records
Grenadine Records was an independent record label based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The music label was founded in 1997 by Eric Y. Lapointe and Alex Megelas who met at Bishop's University's radio station CJMQ-FM. The label, initially named Bittersweet Records, released two 7" vinyl records and then changed its name in 1999 when a New York City-based label of the same name was discovered. The label was officially announced as Grenadine Records as of March 1999 along with its first CD release Syrup & Gasoline Vol.1 which was a compilation of bands from across Canada. Kevin Drew
Kevin Drew (born September 9, 1976) is a Canadian musician and songwriter who, together with Brendan Canning, founded the expansive Toronto baroque-pop collective Broken Social Scene. He was also part of the lesser-known KC Accidental, which consisted of Drew and Charles Spearin, another current member of Broken Social Scene. Drew has shared in the direction of Broken Social Scene videos under the name Experimental Parachute Movement. In 2008 he wrote and directed a short film called "The Water," inspired by and starring his bandmate and former girlfriend Leslie Feist. In 2009, Drew contributed to the AIDS benefit album Dark Was the Night produced by the Red Hot Organization.
