Bluesette
Bluesette is a jazz standard, composed by Toots Thielemans. First recorded by Toots Thielemans in 1962, with lyrics added by Norman Gimbel, the song became an international hit. It has since been covered by over one hundred artists. Thielemans received Grammy Award nominations for Best Instrumental Theme in 1964 and Best Jazz Instrumental Solo in 1992 for the song. In 2000, Bluesette was inducted in the Radio 2 Hall of Fame. Toots Thielemans
Jean-Baptiste Frédéric Isidor, Baron Thielemans (29 April 1922 – 22 August 2016), known professionally as Toots Thielemans (), was a Belgian jazz musician. He was mostly known for playing the chromatic harmonica, as well as his guitar and whistling skills, and composing. According to jazz historian Ted Gioia, his most important contribution was in "championing the humble harmonica", which Thielemans made into a "legitimate voice in jazz".Gioia, Ted. Paul Williams (December 1, 1934 – April 24, 2016), known professionally as Billy Paul, was an American soul music, soul singer, known for his 1972 Record chart, No. 1 single "Me and Mrs. Jones". Norman Gimbel
Norman Gimbel (November 16, 1927 – December 19, 2018) was an American lyricist and songwriter of popular songs and themes to television shows and films. He wrote the lyrics for songs including " Ready to Take a Chance Again" (with composer Charles Fox) and " Canadian Sunset". He also co-wrote " Killing Me Softly With His Song". He wrote English-language lyrics for many international hits, including " Sway", " Summer Samba", "The Girl from Ipanema", " How Insensitive", " Drinking-Water", "Meditation", " I Will Wait for You" and "Watch What Happens". Curtis Fuller
Curtis DuBois Fuller (December 15, 1932May 8, 2021) was an American jazz trombonist. He was a member of Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers and contributed to many classic jazz recordings. Early life Fuller was born in Detroit on December 15, 1932. Throughout his life, his birthdate was reported differently because he had added two years to his age at 17, in part to gain work. His father had emigrated from Jamaica and worked in a Ford factory, but died from tuberculosis before his son was born. His mother, who had moved north from Atlanta, died when Curtis was nine. He spent several years in an orphanage run by Jesuits. Fuller developed a passion for jazz after one of the nuns took him to see Illinois Jacquet and his band, with J. J. Johnson on trombone. Raelene Claire Claussen, known professionally as Sue Raney (born June 18, 1940, in McPherson, Kansas) is an American jazz singer. Raney was signed by Capitol Records in 1957 at age 17. That same year, she recorded her debut album, ''When Your Lover Has Gone,'' produced by Nelson Riddle. Biography Raney was born to Richard LeRoy Claussen (1913–1967) and Mildred Augusta Vonderfecht ''(maiden;'' 1915–2005). She began singing at age four, and, encouraged by her mother, began singing professionally before becoming a teenager.
