Blenheim Stakes
The Blenheim Stakes is a Listed flat horse race in Ireland open to thoroughbreds aged two years only. It is run at Fairyhouse over a distance of 6 furlongs (1,206 metres), and it is scheduled to take place each year in September. The race was first run in 1994 and was run at the Curragh until 2014. Conditions Races
Conditions races are horse racing, horse races in which the weights carried by the runners are laid down by the conditions attached to the race. Weights are allocated according to the sex of the runners, with female runners carrying less weight than males; the age of the runners, with younger horses receiving weight from older runners to allow for relative maturity, referred to as weight for age; and the quality of the runners, with horses that have won certain values of races giving weight to less successful entrants. Conditions races are distinct from handicap races, for which the weights carried are laid down by an official handicapper to equalise the difference in ability between the runners. Gavin Cromwell
Gavin Cromwell (born 29 September 1974) is an Irish dual-purpose racehorse trainer. He has won multiple Grade 1 races, including the 2025 Cheltenham Gold Cup. Background Cromwell comes from Ardcath, County Meath, where his grandfather and uncle trained horses. Colin Keane
Colin Keane (born 12 September 1994) is an Irish jockey who competes in flat racing. He was Irish flat racing Champion Jockey in 2017, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024. Keane was born in County Meath and rode his first race winner at Dundalk in December 2010. He became stable jockey for racehorse trainer Ger Lyons in 2014 and won the Irish apprentice jockeys' championship that year with 54 winners, having finished runner-up the previous season. Keane was runner-up to Pat Smullen in the Irish jockeys' championship in 2015 and won his first championship in 2017 with a total of 100 winners. Thomas Geoffrey Dascombe (born 30 April 1973) is an English Group 1 winning racehorse trainer currently operating from Uplands Stables, Lambourn, United Kingdom. He trained Classic Blade and Firth of Fifth to win the G2 July Stakes and G2 Superlative Stakes respectively, on consecutive days in 2008 at Newmarket. Jessica Harrington
Jessica Jane Harrington (née Fowler, born 12 February 1947) is an Irish professional horse trainer. Harrington specialises in National Hunt racing but has also had success in Flat racing. Personal life Harrington was born in London. Her father was Brigadier Bryan Fowler, an officer in the British Army, and her mother was Mary Walford. Bryan Fowler was originally from Kells, County Meath and served with the Royal Artillery in both World Wars, and married Mary, who was a widow, in 1944. She had two children from her previous marriage. Harrington had an older brother, John Fowler, who was also a racehorse trainer and died in an accident in 2008 at their family estate in Summerhill, County Meath. Billy Lee (jockey)
William James "Billy" Lee (born July 1986) is a Group 1 winning Irish jockey who competes in flat racing. Background Lee grew up on a farm in Ballingarry, County Limerick, where the family kept horses and his mother trained point-to-pointers. His sisters also went into training horses. Lee competed in pony racing from the age of nine and also entered the Castletown Donkey Derby on several occasions, coming second in 1994. Joseph Patrick O'Brien
Joseph Patrick O'Brien (born 23 May 1993) is an Irish horse racing trainer and former flat racing jockey. He is the son of trainer Aidan O'Brien. In 2012 he rode Camelot to win the 2,000 Guineas, the 2012 Epsom Derby and the Irish Derby. Chris Hayes (jockey)
Chris Hayes (born 11 August 1987) in County Limerick is an Irish jockey who competes in Flat racing. Hayes wanted to be a solicitor as a child, but changed his mind when introduced to pony racing. After attending the Racing Academy and Centre of Education (RACE) in Kildare, he joined the stable of Kevin Prendergast in 2004 as an apprentice jockey. John M. Oxx (born 14 July 1950) is a retired Irish trainer of thoroughbred racehorses. David Wachman
David Wachman (born 5 July 1971) is a retired Irish racehorse trainer who specialised in flat racing. Before taking out his own licence to train horses, Wachman worked for trainers in Ireland ( Jessica Harrington, Michael Hourigan and Jim Bolger), Australia (Bill Mitchell and Brian Mayfield Smith) and England ( Jenny Pitman). He began training near Carrick-on-Suir at the age of 25 with runners in point-to-point races and had his first winner in 1996 with Middle Mogs in a hurdle race at Clonmel, followed by his first flat race winner in June 1997 with Clewbay Pearl at Cork. Johnny Murtagh (born 14 May 1970) is an Irish flat racing trainer and former jockey from Bohermeen, near Navan, Kells, County Meath.
