Gavin Cromwell
Gavin Cromwell (born 29 September 1974) is an Irish dual-purpose racehorse trainer. He has won multiple Grade 1 races, including the 2025 Cheltenham Gold Cup. Background Cromwell comes from Ardcath, County Meath, where his grandfather and uncle trained horses. Originally hoping to become a jockey, Cromwell worked in yards in Ireland, Newmarket and Australia, before returning to Ireland to start a four-year farrier apprenticeship. He took out a trainer's licence in 2005, while continuing to work as a farrier until he became established. Career as a trainer Cromwell sent out his first winner from his Danestown yard in April 2007, when Dodder Walk won a handicap hurdle at Cork. He achieved his first Grade 1 success when Jer's Girl won the Mares Novice Hurdle Championship Final at Fairyhouse in March 2016. Cheltenham Gold Cup
The Cheltenham Gold Cup is a Grade 1 National Hunt horse race run on the New Course at Cheltenham Racecourse in England, over a distance of about 3 miles 2½ furlongs (3 miles 2 furlongs and 70 yards, or 5,294 m), and during its running there are 22 fences to be jumped. The race takes place each year during the Cheltenham Festival in March. The steeplechase, which is open to horses aged five years and over, is the most prestigious of all National Hunt events and it is sometimes referred to as the ''Blue Riband'' of jump-racing. Queen Mary Stakes
The Queen Mary Stakes is a Group 2 flat horse race in Great Britain open to two-year-old fillies. It is run at Ascot over a distance of 5 furlongs (1,006 metres), and it is scheduled to take place each year in June. The event is named after Queen Mary, the consort of King George V. It was established in 1921, and the inaugural running was won by Wild Mint. The present system of race grading was introduced in 1971, and for a period the Queen Mary Stakes was classed at Group 3 level. It was promoted to Group 2 status in 2004. The Mildmay Novices' Chase is a Grade One National Hunt racing, National Hunt Steeplechase (horse racing), chase in Great Britain which is open to horses aged five years or older. It is run on the Mildmay course at Aintree Racecourse, Aintree over a distance of about 3 miles and 1 furlong (3 miles and 210 yards, or 5,020 metres), and during its running there are nineteen fences to be jumped. The Spring Juvenile Hurdle is a Grade 1 National Hunt hurdle race in Ireland. It is run at Leopardstown Racecourse in February, over a distance of 2 miles. The race is restricted to four-year-old horses only and is usually contested by horses who go on to run in the Triumph Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival. The race was first run in 1994 as a Listed event, replacing the Le Coq Hardi Hurdle, a Grade 3 all-aged 2 mile Novice Hurdle. It is run at Leopardstown Racecourse in December, over a distance of 3 miles (4,828 metres) and during its running there are 12 flights of hurdles to be jumped. The Glenfarclas Cross Country Chase is a National Hunt steeplechase in Great Britain which is open to horses aged five years or older.
