Bjørn Lyng
Bjørn Lyng (8 July 1925 – 12 October 2006) was a Norwegian businessman, investor and industrialist. He was the founder of Lyng Gruppen AS, a holding company with over twenty subsidiaries. He is also associated with his development of vacation resorts located in ArguineguÃn along the south coast of Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands. Biography He was born at Hurum Municipality in Buskerud county and grew up in Leksvik Municipality in Nord-Trøndelag county. He was the son of farmer Hagbart Hartmann Lyng (1877- 1961) and nurse Helene Charlotte Steffens (1897-1960). He was a cousin of Norwegian Prime Minister John Lyng and of ethnographer Thor Heyerdahl. During the German occupation of Norway he joined the resistance movement, and was arrested in 1944 and incarcerated at Vollan, Falstad and Grini. ArguineguÃn
ArguineguÃn (Guanche for "quiet water") is one of the most populated towns along the south coast of Gran Canaria, Spain. A once typical Canarian fishing village, it is now home to both locals and tourists, as the settlement has continued to grow. In 2015 it had 2517 inhabitants. It is part of the municipality of Mogán and is located southwest of Las Palmas. There are several bars and restaurants, the latter specialising in fresh fish caught the same day. Tuesday is market day (the largest on the island). ArguineguÃn features a beach and a port. Tourism is not as popular in ArguineguÃn as in the larger places as Maspalomas and Playa del Ingles. Holiday hotels, however, can be found in ArguineguÃn; Marino I, Dorado Beach, Club Puerto Atlantico, Sunwing Resort ArguineguÃn, Green Beach Hotel and Radisson Blu Resort to mention the larger ones. Årnset or Rissa is the administrative centre of Indre Fosen Municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located on the north shore of the lake Botn (Trøndelag), Botn about south of the village of Hasselvika and about north of the villages of Stadsbygd and Askjem. The village has a population (2024) of 1,250 and a population density of . Rissa Church, Rein Church, and Rein Abbey, Norway, Rein Abbey are all located in and around Årnset. Prior to 2020, the village was the administrative centre of the old Rissa Municipality (which is why the village is known as Rissa). Falstad Concentration Camp Survivors
Falstad concentration camp ( or ) was situated in the village of Ekne in what was Skogn Municipality (now part of Levanger Municipality in Trøndelag county) in Norway. It was used mostly for political prisoners from Nazi-occupied territories. Falstad boarding school The boarding school for boys at Falstad was founded as part of the general movement in Europe generally and Norway in particular, to reform the penal system, especially for children. Prison director Anders Daae took the initiative in founding a private institution in Trøndelag, to be modeled after similar schools in Europe. He raised funds primarily through the ''Trondhjems Brændevinssamlag'' (Trondheim liquor cooperative) and ''Trondhjems Sparebank'' (Trondheim Savings Bank) and acquired the farm known as Nedre Falstad for in 1895, along with the farm buildings.
