Bishop Allen
Bishop Allen is an American indie rock band from Brooklyn, New York, United States. The band's core members are Justin Rice and Christian Rudder, who are supported both on stage and in the studio by a rotating cast of musical collaborators. The band was formed in 2003 and grew out of Rice and Rudder's friendship; it takes its name from Bishop Allen Drive in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where the two lived together after attending Harvard University. Bishop Allen has released four albums and 12 EPs; their second album, '' The Broken String'', was released in July 2007, '' Grrr...'', was released in March 2009, and after a five-year hiatus they released their most recent album ''Lights Out'' in August 2014. Jawbreaker (band)
Jawbreaker is an American punk rock band that was initially active from 1986 to 1996, and reunited in 2017. The band is considered to be extremely influential to the 1990s emo and Punk rock, punk genre with their "poetic take on hardcore punk, hardcore." Their influence on the punk scene has led some critics to label Jawbreaker as the best punk rock band of the 1990s. Lead vocalist and guitarist Blake Schwarzenbach, bassist Chris Bauermeister, and drummer Adam Pfahler formed the band while students at New York University, later relocating to Los Angeles where they released their debut album ''Unfun'' (1990) through independent record label Shredder Records. Secretly Canadian is an American independent record label based in Bloomington, Indiana, part of the Secretly Group. The Secretly Group includes record labels Dead Oceans and Jagjaguwar as well as a music publisher known as Secretly Publishing, representing artists, writers, film makers, producers, and comedians. History Secretly Canadian was founded in 1996 by Chris and Ben Swanson, Eric Weddle, and Jonathan Cargill while they attended Indiana University. Before Secretly Canadian was founded, Chris Swanson and Eric Weddle met in 1995 in Indiana University's campus radio station, WIUX. Then Chris met Jonathan Cargill through a job at the Collins Living-Learning Center cafeteria on campus. Kelly Pratt is an arranger and multi-instrumentalist best known for his brass and woodwind work in the bands Beirut, David Byrne & St. Vincent, and Father John Misty. Biography Born in Lexington, Kentucky, Pratt was a member of Beirut from the band's inception in 2006 until 2012, playing in the live band and on the recordings. He joined Montreal's Arcade Fire on their Neon Bible world tour in 2007–2008, playing trumpet, flugelhorn, euphonium, French horn and flute. Kate Dollenmayer is an American actor and film archivist. She made her debut as the star of Andrew Bujalski's 2002 film '' Funny Ha Ha''. She subsequently appeared in Bujalski's next film ''Mutual Appreciation'' in 2005. Early and personal life Dollenmayer was born in Vermont and raised in Massachusetts. Fat Day was a Boston-based noisecore band. Formed in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1992, they released a handful of LPs and several EPs on their own 100% Breakfast! label as well as many others. History The four members of Fat Day met in the early 1990s when they were DJs on the Record Hospital, a nightly program of rock and indie rock aired on WHRB in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Doug Demay and Zak Sitter both played guitar in the short-lived band Mopar before dedicating their time to Fat Day. The band rented a small house in Somerville, Massachusetts (dubbed "Fat Day House") where they lived, practiced, recorded, ran a record label, and hosted shows for local and touring bands.
