Birkenhead United
Birkenhead United AFC is a football club based in Beach Haven, on the North Shore of Auckland, New Zealand. They currently compete in the Northern League. Club history The club was established as Birkenhead in 1960 before it amalgamated with Birkdale in 1963, taking its current name as Birkenhead United. Since 1965, Birkenhead have mainly played either in Division 1 or Division 2 of the Northern League though they twice early on, made it into Premier Division in 1968 and 1970, only to be relegated again that same year. They also had one of their best early runs in the 1970 Chatham Cup, making it to the 5th round before losing to Eden 1–4. They wouldn't repeat that success in the cup again until 2010. Again going down in the 5th round, this time to Glenfield Rovers. Birkenhead started to see more success in the 2010s, with them again making the Premier Division in 2013 and they have stayed there since. Shepherds Park
Shepherds Park, is a reserve and sports ground in the suburb of Beach Haven in Auckland, New Zealand. It is the home ground of New Zealand National League and Northern League side Birkenhead United, Beach Haven Bowling Club, Beach Haven Tennis Club, Shepherds Park Squash Club. It is also the home for Beach Haven Community House and Beach Haven Kauri Kids. The park features areas of regenerating native bush. ThFriends of Shepherds Parkis a community group that have been coming together for over 30 years for native plant regeneration and maintenance in the park. Shepherds Park also hosts cricket games during the summer and is used as one of Birkenhead City Cricket Club's grounds. 2013 Chatham Cup
The 2013 ASB Chatham Cup was New Zealand's 86th knockout football competition. The 2013 competition had a qualification round and four rounds proper, before quarter-finals, semi-finals, and a final. Competition was run in three regions (Northern, Central, Southern) until the quarter-finals, from which stage the draw was open. In all, 132 teams entered the competition. The 2013 final The final was played in front of a crowd of 2,000 spectators. Cashmere Technical took an early lead in the 5th minute when Julyan Collett was fouled in the penalty area and Danny Boys sent Waitakere City goalkeeper Eamon Goodin the wrong way. The lead was short lived when just 10 minutes later, Cashmere conceded their first and what would be their only goal of the whole campaign. Chatham Cup
The Chatham Cup is New Zealand's premier Single-elimination tournament, knockout tournament in men's association football. It is held annually, with the final contested in September. The current champions of the Chatham Cup are Wellington Olympic, who defeated Auckland City on penalties in the final. History The Chatham Cup is contested by teams from throughout New Zealand, and has been held annually since 1923 with the exception of 1937, 1941–44 and 2020. Typically between 120 and 150 teams take part, with extra time and penalty shoot-outs used to decide matches which end in ties. In the past, replays were used, and in the early years of the competition the number of corners won during a game decided tied matches. Nelson Suburbs FC is a football club in Nelson, New Zealand. They compete in the Mainland Premier League. They have won the Mainland Premier League three times. Nelson Suburbs FC has strong ties with the region's most successful football school Nelson College. The Scottish Premiership, also known as the William Hill (bookmaker), William Hill Premiership for sponsorship reasons, is a professional association football league in Scotland and the highest level of the Scottish football league system. ''Newshub'' (stylised as Newshub.) was a New Zealand news service that operated from 1989 to 2024 and served as the local news division of Warner Bros. Discovery New Zealand until its closure. Western Suburbs Football Club is an association football club in Porirua, New Zealand. They play their home matches at Endeavour Park in the Porirua suburb of Whitby and compete in the Central Premier League. Western Suburbs is in partnership with Olé Football Academy who provide coaching for some of their junior and senior teams. Waitakere City F.C. was a New Zealand football club. They merged with Norwest United in 2021 to form West Coast Rangers. They last competed in the Lotto Sport Italia NRFL Premier League. History It was formed in 1989 with the purpose of representing West Auckland in the National Soccer League. At first the club was located in Western Springs, but following a merger with Massey AFC in 1991, it moved to its current location, at Fred Taylor Park in Whenuapai, West Auckland.
