MTV3
MTV3 ( fi, MTV Kolme, sv, MTV Tre) is a Finnish commercial television station. It had the biggest audience share of all Finnish TV channels until Yle TV1 (from Yle) took the lead. The letters MTV stand for Mainos-TV (literally "Advertisement-TV", i.e. "Commercial TV), due to the channel carrying advertising for revenue. Number 3 was added later, when the channel was allocated the third nationwide television channel and it generally became known as "Channel Three"—Finnish Broadcasting Company’s Yle TV1 and Yle TV2 being the first two—and also to distinguish it from the later MTV Finland, which is a Finnish version of Paramount's MTV channel. From 1957 until 2001, the channel's logo was a stylised owl, changed to an owl's eye after an image renewal in 2001, which was then used until 2013. MTV3 has about 500 employees. It is also known as Maikkari (a slang of word "Mainos-TV"). History Early years Oy Mainos-TV-Reklam Ab, or MTV for short, was founded on 29 April ...

Vääpeli Körmy

The films each parody aspects of the Finnish Defense Forces but also Finland's international relations, its presidents and various political and social aspects of Finnish life. The films take primarily place in the fictional sissi garrison in Räyhäranta. Being unrealistically small for a standard Finnish garrison it only houses one of each rank of officer between Sergeant Major (Körmy) and Colonel (Tossavainen), as well a group of four corporals who start off as privates in the first film of the series. The films have also included a bizarre element of foreshadowing two real-life events that both occurred in 1995. The first film features a joke of Finland winning the Ice Hockey World Championships against the USSR. Finland w ...

Its neighbouring municipalities are Eura, Eurajoki, Laitila and Pyhäranta. Granted town privileges on 17 April 1442 (then under the rule of Sweden), Rauma is known for its paper and maritime industry, high quality lace (since the 18th century) and the old wooden architecture of the city centre ( Old Rauma, Vanha Rauma), which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. History In the 14th century, before it was declared a town, Rauma had a Franciscan monastery and a Catholic church. In 1550, the townsmen of Rauma were ordered to relocate to Helsinki, but this was unsuccessful and Rauma continued to grow. Practically the whole wooden part of the town of Rauma was devastated in the fires of 1640 and 1682. The city centre, which was as large as the town was until 1809, has approximately 600 wooden buildings. The neo-renaissance style of many of the ...
