Bill Walsh (hurler)
William Walsh (1922 – 26 March 2013) was an Irish hurler who played as a left wing-back for the Kilkenny senior team. Walsh joined the team during the 1944 championship and was a regular member of the starting fifteen until his retirement after the 1958 championship. During that time he won two All-Ireland medal and five Leinster medals. Walsh was an All-Ireland runner-up on four occasions. At club level Walsh was a one-time Kilkenny club championship medalist with Carrickshock. He also won a Dublin club championship medal with Young Irelands. Playing career Club Walsh began his club hurling career with Carrickshock. In 1942 he lined out in his first championship decider. A narrow 3–2 to 2–3 defeat of Threecastles gave Walsh a Kilkenny Senior Hurling Championship medal. A move to Dublin saw Walsh join the Young Irelands club. Carrickshock GAA
Carrickshock is an Irish Gaelic Athletic Association club situated in the south of County Kilkenny, Ireland. The club was founded in 1928 when the teams from Hugginstown and Knockmoylan were amalgamated in commemoration of the Battle of Carrickshock, 1831. Carrickshock have had success in the Kilkenny Senior Hurling Championship, winning the competition seven times. Their record of four county titles in a row between 1940 and 1943 remained unbroken until 2009 when Ballyhale Shamrocks won their 4th title in succession. Young Irelands GAA (Kilkenny)
Young Irelands are a Gaelic Athletic Association Club based in Gowran, County Kilkenny, Ireland. Formed in 1952, they are located on the Chapel Road just outside the village. Their jersey consists of red and white vertical stripes. They are currently managed by Alan Roche. Past managers have included Pat O'Neill and Kevin Fennelly. Ollie Walsh
Patrick Oliver Walsh (13 July 1937 – 9 March 1996) was an Irish hurler and hurling manager. His career included All-Ireland Championship victories as a player and later as a manager with the Kilkenny senior hurling team. After beginning his career at club level with Thomastown, Walsh joined the Kilkenny minor team as a 15-year-old in 1953 and won a Leinster Minor Championship in 1955. After a brief stint with the junior side, he was promoted to the Kilkenny senior team in 1956. From his debut, Walsh was ever-present as a goalkeeper and made a total of 42 championship appearances in a career that ended with his last game in 1972. During that time he was part of five All-Ireland Championship-winning teams – in 1957, 1963, 1967, 1969 and 1972. Joe Kelly (hurler)
Fr. Joseph Kelly (1923 – June 1994) was an Irish hurler who played as a left corner-forward for the Cork senior team. Kelly joined the team during the 1943 championship and later became a regular member of the starting fifteen until his retirement following the conclusion of the 1947 championship. During that time he won two All-Ireland medals and three Munster medals. Kelly was an All-Ireland runner-up on one occasion. At club level Kelly played with the famous Glen Rovers. Playing career Club Kelly played his club hurling with the famous Glen Rovers club on the north side of Cork city. He enjoyed little success at minor level before joining the club’s senior team. Mossy O'Riordan
Maurice Francis "Mossy" O'Riordan (1926 - 27 August 2008) was an Irish hurler who played as a right corner-forward for the Cork senior team. Born in Blackrock, County Cork, O'Riordan first played with the Cork senior team at the age of twenty. He made his debut during the 1946 championship. O'Riordan became a regular member of the starting fifteen and won two All-Ireland medals and three Munster medals. He was an All-Ireland runner-up on one occasion. As a member of the Munster inter-provincial team on a number of occasions O'Riordan won two Railway Cup medals. At club level he played with Blackrock.
