Nechama Tec
Nechama Tec (née Bawnik, 15 May 1931 – 3 August 2023) was a Polish-American historian who was professor emerita of Sociology at the University of Connecticut. She received her Ph.D. in sociology at Columbia University, where she studied and worked with the sociologist Daniel Bell, and was a Holocaust scholar. Her book ''When Light Pierced the Darkness'' (1986) and her memoir ''Dry Tears: The Story of a Lost Childhood'' (1984) both received the Merit of Distinction Award from the Anti-Defamation League of B'nai B'rith. She is also the author of the book ''Defiance: The Bielski Partisans'' on which the film ''Defiance'' (2008) is based, as well as a study of women in the Holocaust. Ze'ev Bielski (; born 13 March 1949) is an Israeli politician who served as a member of the Knesset for Kadima between 2009 and 2013. He previously chaired the Jewish Agency for Israel, Jewish Agency and the World Zionist Organization and worked as a Jewish Agency emissary in South Africa. He also served as the mayor of Ra'anana (served 1989–2005, 2013–2018). Marcin Bielski
Marcin Bielski (or ''Wolski''; 1495 – 18 December 1575) was a Polish soldier, historian, chronicler, renaissance satirical poet, writer and translator. His son, , royal secretary to king Sigismund III Vasa, was also a historian and poet. He was born of noble parentage on the patrimonial estate of Biała (whence the family name), Pajęczno County, in the Polish province of Sieradz. His alternate surname ''Wolski'' derives from his estate at Wola. One of two Polish writers of the same name, he was the first to use the Polish language, hence his designation as the father of Polish prose. Richard Adam Bielski (September 7, 1932 – October 15, 2023) was an American professional football player and coach. He played in the National Football League (NFL) for the Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys, and Baltimore Colts. Bielski played college football at the University of Maryland. Early years Bielski was named an All-Maryland Scholastic Association fullback in Patterson Park High School. Bielski accepted a football scholarship with the University of Maryland, where he played as a fullback, linebacker, and placekicker. In 1954 he was a preseason All-American candidate, but injuries affected his level of play during the season. Still, he was able to finish his college career averaging more than five yards per carry.
