Benkovski, Plovdiv Province
Benkovski is a village in Southern Bulgaria, located in Maritsa Municipality, Plovdiv Province. The village, as of June 2020, has a population of 1273 people, registered with a current address there. Geography Benkovski is located in the Upper Thracian Plain with an elevation of 163 meters above sea level. It is situated 12 kilometers South West from Plovdiv. The total area of the village is 1689,3 hectares. The main two harvests the villagers gather are carrots and potatoes. History The earliest sources state that the village was created around 1576 under the initial name of Marzyan. In 1939, the village was renamed as Benkovski. It used to be a Municipality with three other villages under it - Benkovski, Radinovo and Voisil. Maritsa Municipality ( obshtina) is located in the Plovdiv Province, southern Bulgaria on the northern bank of the Maritsa River. It has 30,676 inhabitants and consists only of villages. The municipality has thriving industry with around €400 000 000 invested in the recent years. Its administrative center is Plovdiv but the city is not part of the municipality. Southern Bulgaria ( bg, Южна България, ''Yuzhna Balgariya'') is the southern half of the territory of Bulgaria, located to the south of the main ridge of the Balkan Mountains which conventionally separates the country into a northern and a southern part. Radinovo
Radinovo (Bulgarian: Радиново, IPA: radˈinovɔ) is a village in Maritsa Municipality, Plovdiv Province, Southern Bulgarian. Its name is sometimes seen as Radenovo (Bulgarian: Радeново). As of 2006 the population is 720. Geography Radinovo is located in the Upper Thrace lowlands, 7 km. northwest of Plovdiv. It is 172 m. above sea level. The village's area is 1270.5 m2. History According to the local tradition, the village name derives from Radi (Bulgarian: Ради)—a young, unruly and brave Bulgarian—who lived in the time of Ottoman rule in Bulgaria.
