Ben Babbitt
Ben Babbitt is a Los Angeles-based artist and musician for independent films and video games. He is a founding member of the video game development studio Cardboard Computer, where he wrote the soundtrack for ''Kentucky Route Zero''. Career Babbitt has been making music since a very young age, and comes from a musical family with both parents playing in orchestras in Chicago. Since 2011, he has been a member of the band Pillars & Tongues with Mark Trecka and Elizabeth Remis, and contributed to their 2013 album 'End-Dances', numerous small-edition tape releases, in addition to touring extensively throughout the U.S., Canada, and Europe. Babbitt has exhibited work with Cardboard Computer at the V&A Museum in London, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Museum of Moving Image in New York City, and the Museum of Pop Culture in Seattle, as well as the Getty Museum, in Los Angeles, and the Field Museum in Chicago. The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) is a private art school associated with the Art Institute of Chicago (AIC) in Chicago, Illinois. Tracing its history to an art students' cooperative founded in 1866, which grew into the museum and school, SAIC has been accredited since 1936 by the Higher Learning Commission, by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design since 1944 (charter member), and by the Association of Independent Colleges of Art and Design (AICAD) since the associations founding in 1991. Natalie Laura Mering (born June 11, 1988), known professionally as Weyes Blood (pronounced ), is an American singer, songwriter, and musician. She was primarily raised in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. She has been performing her own material under variations of the name Weyes Blood since 2003. Her music has undergone significant changes throughout her career. She has been involved in the underground noise music scene and was briefly bassist of the Portland, Oregon-based group Jackie-O Motherfucker and was singer for the band Satanized. As Weyes Blood she made two self-released albums, changing to Weyes Blood to release ''The Outside Room'' (2011) on microlabel Not Not Fun Records. Martine Syms (born 1988) is an American artist based in Los Angeles who works in publishing, video, installation, and performance. Her work focuses on identity and the portrayal of the self in relation to themes such as feminism and Black culture. This is often explored through humour and social commentary. Syms coined the term "conceptual entrepreneur" in 2007 to characterize her practice. Early life Martine Syms was born in Los Angeles in 1988. She was raised with three siblings in the Altadena suburb of Los Angeles. She was home-schooled by her parents from age 7 through 12, and knew from an early age that she wanted to be an artist. The ''Triennale Game Collection'' is a series of original independent video game anthologies, published for free in 2016 and 2022 at the occasions of the 21st and 23rd Triennale di Milano and of the ''Milano Game Festival''. LA Game Space was a nonprofit organization focused on experimental game design, research and education. The crowdfunded project planned to open an exhibition space in Los Angeles, along with a research wing, a space for workshops and support for artists in residence. The organization exceeded its crowdfunding target in 2012, but closed down in 2018 having failed to open a physical venue.
