Jean-Louis Beaudry
Jean-Louis Beaudry (March 27, 1809 – June 25, 1886) was a Canadian entrepreneur and politician. Beaudry served as mayor of Montreal three times, from 1862 to 1866, from 1877 to 1879, and from 1881 to 1885 for a total time served as mayor of ten years. Early life Born in Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines, Quebec, he was raised and worked on the family farm. After working as a clerk and shopkeeper, Beaudry opened a dry goods store with his brother in 1834. Beaudry became increasingly politically active. In 1827 he signed a petition in opposition to the proposed union of the upper and lower Canadas. In 1837 he became one of the vice presidents of the Société des Fils de la Liberté. When the Rebellions of 1837 occurred, Beaudry fled temporarily to the United States. Marcel Beaudry
Marcel Beaudry (November 17, 1933 – November 24, 2012) was a lawyer, politician and public official. He served as mayor of Hull, Quebec (now part of Gatineau) in 1991 and 1992 and as chair of the National Capital Commission from 1992 to 2006. The son of Léon Beaudry and Rosia Farley, he served as chief crown attorney in Hull from 1960 to 1966. Beaudry was solicitor for the city of Hull and for the Société de transport de l'Outaouais during the 1970s and 1980s. Beaudry was elected mayor of Hull in 1991 and had served nine months when he was named to the National Capital Commission (NCC) by Prime Minister Brian Mulroney. He continued to serve in that position under Prime Ministers Kim Campbell, Jean Chrétien (who appointed him to a second term), Paul Martin and Stephen Harper. Prudent Beaudry (1819 – May 29, 1893) was a Canadian-born American politician who served as the 13th mayor of Los Angeles, from 1874 to 1876. A native of Quebec, he was the 2nd French Canadian and 3rd French-American mayor of Los Angeles. Early life Prudent Beaudry was born in Mascouche, Quebec, Canada, in 1819. He started a business in Montreal and during his career he visited Europe multiple times. He immigrated to the United States in 1850, and moved to Los Angeles, California, in 1852. He worked as a merchant in Los Angeles until 1867, and afterwards became active in real estate. Joseph Marie Paul Lucien ''Roland'' Beaudry (14 February 1906 – 14 December 1964) was a Canadian politician, journalist, publicist and publisher. Biography Born in Montreal, Quebec, he was elected to the House of Commons of Canada in the 1945 election as a Member of the Liberal Party to represent the riding of St. James. He was re-elected in 1949 in St. James, and 1953 and 1957 in Saint-Jacques. Louis Roméo Beaudry (February 25, 1882 – May 6, 1932) was a French Canadian author, composer, pianist and record producer, who established Éditions Radio and served as the director general of the Starr Records company of Canada as a music producer. As a composer Beaudry wrote more than 75 songs which went on to be recorded. Life and career Born in Montreal, Beaudry grew up primarily in Quebec City. After finishing his schooling at the Quebec Seminary in 1900, he obtained a job at the National Bank of Canada. Beaudry () is a Montreal Metro station in the borough of Ville-Marie (Montreal), Ville-Marie, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It is operated by the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) and serves the Line 1 Green (Montreal Metro), Green Line.
