Bayel
Bayel () is a commune in the Aube department in the Grand Est region of north-central France. The inhabitants of the commune are known as ''Bayellois'' or ''Bayelloises''. The commune has been awarded three flowers by the ''National Council of Towns and Villages in Bloom'' in the ''Competition of cities and villages in Bloom''. Geography Bayel is located some 23 km west by north-west of Chaumont and 25 km south-east of Brienne-le-Château. Access to the commune is by the D396 from Ville-sous-la-Ferté in the south which passes through the commune just west of the village and continues north-west to Bar-sur-Aube. The D170 goes from the village to join the D396 then south and west to Baroville. The D47 goes north-east from the village to Lignol-le-Château. The TER Grand Est railway from Troyes to Chalindrey passes through the commune coming from Bar-sur-Aube station in the north-west and continuing to Bricon station in the south-east with no station in the commune. Geography Baroville is located some 25 km west by north-west of Chaumont, Haute-Marne, Chaumont and 5 km south-east of Bar-sur-Aube. Access to the commune is by the D70 road from Saint-Usage, Aube, Saint-Usage in the south-west which passes through the commune and the village and continues north to join the D396 north of the commune. The D170 goes east from the village to join the D396 on the eastern border of the commune where the D396 goes south forming part of this border. The commune is farmland in the west centre and forested in the east with the edge of a large forest on the western side. Arconville is a commune in the Aube department in the Grand Est region of north-central France. The inhabitants of the commune are known as ''Arconvillois'' or ''Arconvilloises''. Geography Arconville is located some 60 km east by south-east of Troyes and 36 km west by north-west of Chaumont. Access to the commune is by road D101 from Bergères in the west passing through the commune and the village and continuing east to join the D12 west of Longchamp-sur-Aujon. The D12 forms most of the southern border of the commune as it goes from Champignol-lez-Mondeville to Longchamp-sur-Aujon. The D70 road also passes south through the west of the commune from Baroville in the north to Champignol-lez-Mondeville in the south-west. Bar-sur-Aube (, literally ''Bar on Aube'') is a commune and a sub-prefecture in the Aube department in the Grand Est region of France. Surrounded by hills and Champagne vineyards, the city is traversed by the river Aube, from which it derives its name. The inhabitants of the commune are known as ''Baralbins'' or ''Baralbines'' and ''Barsuraubois'' or ''Barsurauboises''. Clairvaux Abbey
Clairvaux Abbey (, ; la, Clara Vallis) was a Cistercian monastery in Ville-sous-la-Ferté, from Bar-sur-Aube. The original building, founded in 1115 by St. Bernard, is now in ruins; the present structure dates from 1708. Clairvaux Abbey was a good example of the general layout of a Cistercian monastery. The abbey has been listed since 1926 as a historical monument by the French Ministry of Culture. The grounds are now occupied and used by Clairvaux Prison, a high-security prison. History In 1115 Bernard, a Benedictine monk of the Abbaye de Saint-Nicolas-lès-Cîteaux, was sent with a group of twelve other monks to found a new house at Vallée d'Absinthe.
