The Hellenic Basketball Federation (abbreviated HBF; , abbreviated as Ε.Ο.Κ.,) is the main basketball governing body basketball in Greece, for the sport in Greece. It directs and oversees all of the national sports team, national basketball teams of Greece, including both the junior and senior national teams, of both men and women. From 1969 to 1992, the E.O.K. also solely oversaw the Greek basketball league system, top-tier level men's Greek Basket League, Greek National Basketball League, before its basic operation was taken over by HEBA, starting with the 1992–93 basketball season. Basketball in Greece erupted with the win of the Greece men's national basketball team at the 1987 EuroBasket in Athens, which caused a general basketball euphoria in the country. Greek Women's Basketball League
The Greek women's Basketball League, also known as A1 Ethniki (A1 National) Women's Basketball is the most important competition of Greek women's professional basketball. It is organised by the EOK (Hellenic Basketball Federation). It began with the 1967–68 season. The first championship of the league, which was held in the 1967–68 season, was organised by ΕΟΑΠ (Greek language, Greek: ''Ελληνική Ομοσπονδία Αθλοπαιδιών''). Two years later, the Hellenic Basketball Federation, EOK assumed control of the competition. The Greek Basketball Cup or Hellenic Basketball Cup (also stylized as Basket Cup; Greek: Κύπελλο Ελλάδος καλαθοσφαίρισης ανδρών) is the top-tier level annual professional basketball national cup competition in Greece. It is organized by the Hellenic Basketball Federation (E.O.K.). History and format There were no official nation-wide Greek Cup competitions prior to the 1975–76 season. However, there was a precursor tournament to the Greek Cup, called the Attica State Cup, which was won by AEK Athens, in the 1966–67 and 1970–71 seasons. Greece National Basketball Team
The Greece men's national basketball team () represents Greece in international basketball. They are controlled by the Hellenic Basketball Federation, the governing body for basketball in Greece. Greece is currently ranked 13th in the FIBA World Ranking. Greece have appeared nine times at the FIBA World Cup, with their best result coming in 2006 as runners-up, after beating the United States 101–95 in the tournament's semi-final. Greece have taken part in the EuroBasket 28 times, winning the tournament twice, while also coming away with one silver (1989), as well as two bronze medals (1949, 2009). The Greek C Basket League, or Greek C Basketball League (), is a national basketball league in Greece. It is the 4th-tier level of the basketball league system in Greece, and was founded in 1985. It is also known as National League 2. It is organized by the Hellenic Basketball Federation (E.O.K.). It began in the 1985–86 season, and originally took place with a league format of two groups. A2 National Women's Basketball, also known as A2 Ethniki Women's Basketball is the 2nd-tier level women's basketball league in Greece. It is organized by the Hellenic Basketball Federation (E.O.K.). It is the Greek basketball league system, 3rd-tier level of the basketball league system in Greece, and was founded in its current form in 1986. It is also known as National League 1.
