Acropolis International Basketball Tournament
The Acropolis International Basketball Tournament (also known as the Acropolis of Athens Basketball Tournament and the Acropolis Basketball Cup) (Greek language, Greek: Τουρνουά Ακρόπολις) is an international basketball competition that is played between national teams, which has been held almost every year since Acropolis International Tournament 1986, 1986, and takes place in Athens, Greece, during the summer. It takes place before the big official FIBA tournaments like the FIBA Summer Olympic Games, the FIBA World Olympic Qualifying Tournament, the FIBA World Cup, and the FIBA EuroBasket. The tournament is named after the Athenian Acropolis of Athens, Acropolis. The competition is played under Rules of basketball, FIBA rules. 1999 Acropolis International Basketball Tournament
The 13. Edition of the Acropolis International Basketball Tournament 1999 found between the 9th and 11th. June 1999 in Piraeus. The six games were played for the last time Stadium of Peace and Friendship. Athens has always hosted the tournament since 2000. In addition to the host Greek national team the national teams from Australia also took part Russia part. The team completed the field of participants Italy, which took part in the Acropolis tournament for the seventh time and just a few weeks later in the European Championships in France won the gold medal. The 12th edition of the Acropolis International Basketball Tournament 1998 was held between the 19 and 21 July 1998 in the suburb Marousi, Athens. The total of six games were played in the Olympic Hall. In addition to the host Greek national team the national teams from Poland and Japan also took part. The field of participants completed one NCAA-Selection from the United States. For Japan and Poland, the 1998 Acropolis tournament was the first participation in the competition. The total of six games were played in the Olympic Hall. In addition to the host Greek national team also include the national teams Italy and Germany part. The total of ten games were played at Stadium of Peace and Friendship. In addition to the host Greece also included the national teams FR Yugoslavia, Russia, Argentina as well as Italy. While it was Argentina's first and Russians' second participation in the Acropolis tournament, the Italians took part for the fifth time and the Serbs for the fourth time. 1991 FIBA Centennial Jubilee
The 1991 FIBA Centennial Jubilee was the special edition tournament of the Acropolis International Basketball Tournament that was organized jointly by FIBA Europe and the Hellenic Basketball Federation to commemorate the 100 year anniversary of the sport of basketball. The tournament was held from June 5 to June 9, 1991, at the SEF Indoor Hall in Piraeus, Greece. The tournament was won by Italy, with Greece finishing in second place. The Centennial Jubilee also included a FIBA Europe All-Star Game, which was divided up into a Balkans versus the rest of Europe format. The Balkans Selection won the all-star game, which took place on 8 June 1991, by a score of 103–102. The tournament is not counted officially with the other 29 Acropolis International Tournaments, because it was not solely organized by the Hellenic Basketball Federation. National Athletic Center Glyfada Makis Liougas, commonly known as Glyfada Indoor Hall (Greek: Εθνικό Αθλητικό Κέντρου Γλυφάδας Ματθαίος Λιούγκας) is an indoor arena that is located in Glyfada, Athens, Greece.
