Barra Bint Samawal
Barra bint Samaw'al (, ) was the mother of Safiyya bint Huyayy, a wife and prominent figure in the life of Muhammad, and she was a member of an Arab Jewish tribe that interacted with Muhammad. Biography Barra was the daughter of the very distinguished warrior-poet from the tribe of Banu Harith, Samaw'al ibn Adiya who was known as "Samuel the Faithful," because his son was caught outside the castle and slaughtered when he refused to turn over the treasure entrusted to him. She had a brother, Rifa'a ibn Samaw'al. Note, however, that this Samaw'al died in 565; this would make Barra at least 45 years old when her daughter Safiyya was born. It is therefore possible that Barra's father was a different Samaw'al, although related to the first. One candidate is Samaw'al ibn Zayd, a prominent Qurayza who participated in the debates with Muhammad in 622-623. Barra Grant (born Barbara Carol Wayne) is an American actress, screenwriter, film director and playwright. Biography Grant was born Barbara Carol Wayne in New York City, the daughter of Allan Wayne, a doll company executive, and Bess Myerson, Miss America 1945. Her parents divorced in 1958 due to her father's abuse. She became Barra Grant when her mother married Arnold Grant and he adopted her in 1962. She was educated at the Birch Wathen Lenox School, Bryn Mawr College, and Barnard College. She also went to London for three years to study acting. Grant began an acting career in the early 1970s, appearing on television and in film. One of her first roles was as Lulie in the BBC series '' Take Three Girls''. Barra McGrory
Barra McGrory, KC (born 1959) is a Northern Ireland solicitor and barrister. From 2011 to 2017, he served as the Director of Public Prosecutions for Northern Ireland. Early life and education McGrory was born in 1959 in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He was one of four children and the only son of P.J. and Phyllis McGrory. His father was "one of Northern Ireland's best known criminal lawyers". Barra Ó Donnabháin (1941–2003) was a columnist with the New York Irish Echo newspaper. His weekly article in Irish entitled ''Macalla'' spoke of the Irish language and its people in Ireland and the United States. A selection of his articles were edited and translated by Hilary Mhic Suibhne and Eibhlín Zurell in a volume entitled ''Súil Siar: Cnuasach Aistí le Barra Ó Donnabháin'' (2008). He also wrote for ''Treoir'', the magazine of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann, as well, as the newspapers Foinse and Saol.
