SVT Barn, formerly Barnkanalen and SVT B, is a Sweden, Swedish free-to-air television channel from state broadcaster Sveriges Television dedicated to Children's show, children's television programming. ''Barn'' is Swedish for ''children'', whereas ''Barnkanalen'' meant ''The Children's Channel''. (No relation to the British ''The Children's Channel''.) In the first semester of 2023 alone, SVT Barn had a daily reach of viewers exceeding 100 times the volume that Disney Channel has in Sweden. The channel was an alternative to the established commercial children's channels, with emphasis on viewer interaction, as well as content sent in from kindergartens and schools. Digital Terrestrial Television In Sweden
Digital terrestrial television was launched in Sweden in 1999. The shutdown of the analogue equivalent started on September 19, 2005, and was finalized on October 15, 2007. The network uses the DVB-T-standard and broadcasts several free-to-air and encrypted channels on a number of multiplexes. The majority of the channels are encrypted and viewing them requires a decoding card. In June 1998, the government decided which channels were to broadcast in the network. Kunskapskanalen () is a Swedish television channel operated by Sveriges Television (SVT) and Sveriges Utbildningsradio (UR) broadcasting educational and factual programming. The channel broadcasts between 15:00 and 01:00 on all days of the week, having previously aired between 09:00 and 01:00. Kunskapskanalen is broadcast by satellite, cable, and digital terrestrial television to Sweden, by cable to Norway and parts of Finland, and terrestrially on Åland. The channel can also be received over DVB-T in Copenhagen due to its proximity to southern Sweden. SVT24, stylized as svt24, formerly known as SVT 24 (then stylized svt 24) or 24 is a Swedish language TV channel broadcast by Sveriges Television (SVT). It started broadcasting in 1999 as a dedicated news channel. In 2003 it extended its scope to include other current events-related programmes and sports at the weekend. Nowadays the channel mainly consists of news, sports, and entertainment programmes with a focus on reruns from SVT1 and SVT2. History SVT24 launched on 15 March 1999 at 13:15. SVT1 (SVT Ett; commonly referred to as Ettan) is the primary television station of the Swedish public service broadcaster Sveriges Television in Sweden. History Television in Sweden officially launched on 4 September 1956 with the launch of ''Radiotjänst TV'', renamed ''Sveriges Radio TV'' a year later. It would take a few years before achieving national coverage. From 1955 to 1958, Danish television carried a program in Swedish ('' Sydsvenska journalen'') aiming at viewers in Skåne until the link with Stockholm was finished in 1958. The arrival of a second television network, TV2, led to the first channel relaunching as ''TV1'' in 1969, remaining under the Sveriges Radio banner. SVT Extra
SVT Extra was a Swedish television channel owned and operated by Sveriges Television. SVT Extra was started on 14 January 2002, using space preempted by the cancelling of SVT's regional channels. During its first year, it operated as a regular channel, providing extended coverage of several events and sports broadcasts. The channel was received by some 450,000 viewers on Boxer and on Com Hem. Its inclusion on Com Hem concided with the signing of a new agreement between the companies. The plan was to develop the channel throughout 2002. Towards the end of the year, its place was taken over by Barnkanalen and most sports broadcasts were shifted over to SVT24. With SVT24's rebrand on 24 February 2003, the channel downsized. ''Bolibompa'' is a Swedish children's television series produced by Sveriges Television (SVT). It first aired in 1987 and SVT continues to regularly produce Bolibompa related content . Each episode consists of several short segments presented by one or occasionally several of the series hosts. At the end of each segment the host presents another children's program. After the episode ends Bolibompa returns with another, usually live, segment.
