Banting is a town and the seat of Kuala Langat District, Selangor, Malaysia. Banting has a population of 93,497. The postal code for Banting is 42700 and is administered by the Zone of 15 and 19 of the Kuala Langat Municipal Council. It is situated on the banks of Langat River (Sungai Langat in Malay). It is a Rest Town or ''Bandar Persinggahan'' of Malaysia Federal Route 5, Federal Route 5. The historical Jugra, a former royal town of Selangor is situated near Banting. The Kuala Langat District is a district of Selangor, Malaysia. It is situated in the southwestern part of Selangor. Sekolah Menengah Sains Banting (; abbreviated BASIS) is a boarding school in Banting, Selangor. It is one of the Sekolah Berasrama Penuh (SBP), or fully residential boarding schools, in Malaysia and is the only one in its district (Kuala Langat). History The school was inaugurated on 17 November 2011. It became fully operational on 22 January 2012. Tuan Haji Muhamad Kamaludin bin Taib is the first and current principal of Sekolah Menengah Sains Banting. At that time, the school had only two batches. Jugra (Jawi: جوڬرا, zh, 蚶山) is a mukim, historical town and a former royal town in Kuala Langat District, Selangor, Malaysia. It is separated from Pulau Carey by the Langat River. The town is administered by the Zone 16 of the Kuala Langat Municipal Council. History Jugra was the royal capital of Selangor when the then ruling monarch, Sultan Abdul Samad, built Istana Jugra (Jugra Palace) and moved there in 1875. Mohmed Misbun Mohd Sidek (born 17 February 1960) is a former Malaysian badminton player. He is the eldest of the famous five Sidek brothers. Early life Misbun received his early education in local primary schools which were located in his hometown of Banting and later furthered his studies at Victoria Institution, Kuala Lumpur. Mohd Sidek, his father, had a vision to see his children become badminton aces by training his eldest son, Misbun from an early age. By the age of seven in 1967, Misbun had begun to be seriously trained by his father at the badminton court in front of their house in Kampung Kanchong Darat, Banting, Selangor. Abdul Rahman Mohd Sidek (born 20 September 1965) is a former badminton player from Malaysia and coach. Personal life He is the 4th child of the 5 legendary Sidek brothers who represented Malaysia in the sport of badminton internationally. Rahman and his siblings gained exposure about badminton sport from their father, Haji Mohd Sidek. Under the guidance of his father, Rahman and the rest of his siblings were trained to be champions. Furthermore, Rahman is one of the alumnus of Victoria Institution (batch 1979–1984) amongst the batch of Malaysia's prominent sportsmen who also attended that school just like him. Mohamed Razif Mohd Sidek (born 29 May 1962) is a former badminton player from Malaysia and coach. Personal life He is the second eldest of the five Sidek brothers. Razif and his siblings gained exposure about badminton sport from their father, Haji Mohd Sidek. Razif Sidek is one of the alumni of Victoria Institution (batch 1975–1980). Rashid and his siblings gained exposure to badminton from their father, Mohd Sidek, a former player turned coach.
