Ballygunner GAA (nicknamed "The Gunners") is a Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) club located in the parish of St Mary's Ballygunner in Waterford City, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. The club concerns itself primarily with hurling. It passes both the camogie and Gaelic football duties to its sister club Gáll Tír. History Ballygunner GAA is a hurling club based in Ballygunner village, on the outskirts of Waterford city. The club was founded in 1954 by local schoolteacher Jimmy McGinn. Prior to 1954, there was no adult hurling team in the parish. All hurlers who came out of the small national school travelled into Waterford city to play for either the Erin's Own GAA (Waterford), Erin's Own club or now archrivals Mount Sion GAA, Mount Sion. Lismore GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Lismore, County Waterford, Ireland. The club enters teams in both GAA codes each year, which includes two adult hurling teams and one adult Gaelic football team in the Waterford County Championships. The club has won county titles in both hurling and football, but in recent history the club has been mainly concerned with the game of hurling. Waterford Senior Club Hurling Championship
The Waterford Senior Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the JJ Kavanagh & Sons Senior Hurling Championship) is an annual hurling competition organised by the Waterford County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association since 1897 for the top hurling teams in the county of Waterford in Ireland. The series of games are played during the spring, summer and autumn months with the county final currently being played at Walsh Park in October. Initially played as a knock-out competition, the championship currently features a group stage followed by a knock-out stage. The Waterford County Championship is an integral part of the wider Munster Senior Club Hurling Championship. Tallow GAA
Tallow GAA () is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Tallow, in west County Waterford, Ireland. The club has won the Waterford Senior Hurling Championship four times, first in 1936 and again in 1980, 1984 and 1985. As of 2010, Tallow had four players on the Waterford county panel: James Murray, Aidan Kearney, Mark O' Brien and Thomas Ryan. Tallow GAA's ground, Páirc Eamonn de Paor, is named after the former Waterford hurler and coach Ned Power who taught in the local school through the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. Power played for and coached a number of Tallow teams in both hurling and football. He died in November 2007. Underage Tallow is amalgamated with Knockanore Shamrocks and play under the name of Cois Bhride for the County and Western division Minor and Juvenile Championship. Newtownshandrum () is a small village in County Cork, Republic of Ireland, Ireland located west of Charleville, County Cork, Charleville on the R515 road (Ireland), R515 road. The name translates from Irish to mean 'new town of the old ridge'. Historic maps from 1829 to 1841 and 1897–1913 identify the village as Newtown. Shane O'Sullivan (born 5 November 1985) is an Irish hurler who plays as a midfielder for the Waterford senior team. O'Sullivan joined the team during the 2004 National League and immediately became a regular member of the starting fifteen. Since then he has won two Munster medals and one National Hurling League medal. O'Sullivan has ended up as an All-Ireland runner-up on one occasion.
